Yeah, I just want them to get it out of the way so they can concentrate on a PS2 emulator...

I hate to sound too cynical, but I bet they'll concentrate more on remaking successful PS2 games onto Blu-ray format as they'll be making more money that way. Or have them downloadable from the PSN store or something.

Can I ask a stupid question on the cheating thing? When I look at my friends list, I can see what people are actively playing - that seems to indicate the system can tell.

So wouldn't the easy solution to disable cross-game chat to people that are in the same game (and that game has online competative multiplayer)?

I know that would catch some honest people both playing the same game in totally different matches, but it seems like a pretty minor downside to fix a much more substantial one.

March is what I've heard today, but the reason is to add more community features and roll out a bigger package rather than do it in stages. Also universal chat is a bit dodgy in a few games, serviceable but not ideal, all games post-2007 work fine, but launch titles and some from early 2007 aren't ideal.

Hey,

The delay stinks. I was all set to load up Motorstorm and have a chat with someone trying to play Uncharted at the same time. Now I can't do this? ...

Grrrrrr.....

So do you know if the other roadmap features are being pushed back, too? Not that I'm particularly excited about those anyway.

Disabling chat for those in the same game would would cause more problems than its worth. From the legit side, peeps playing the same game, but are in different matches, or if its an older game that doesn't have a party system and they get split up while wanting to play together. On the cheater side, they could just use cell phones to chat to each other rather than chatting through the game. No matter how ya look at it, there's gonna be pluses and minuses, so go with whatever makes the most happy rather than try to repress the minority who may use it maliciously.

The rest of the roadmap is on time afaik. But like you said they aren't anything to get too excited about for someone like me...

Only slightly off-topic, but I noticed that MS is allowing developers to block party chat for certain game/game modes (probably only ranked matches), for exactly the reasons that were brought up by the Naughty Dog developers (potential for cheating). I wonder if this will end up affecting the PS3's cross-game chat roadmap; it might be hard to go from months of telling developers to live with it to telling them they can block it if they want.

Man, this sucks that it was delayed, especially when there are big MP games out now or coming out soon (UC2 & MW2)

There really aren't any big MP games coming out in March...

I hope the package includes PS2 emulation.
