the final book included so many references to rather insignificant events from the prior six. one of the things i'm talking about is the deluminator, used in the opening scene of the first book/movie and willed to ron. i'm hoping they don't cut these things out of the DH because they really helped wrap up the series.

book 6 as well as the movie through no fault of it's own are horrible. I mean shouldn't he have been actually training knowing what he had to eventually do instead of just looking at old memories. seriously they could have looked at all of them in one night never mind over a whole year. if i were him i would have been like hey most powerful wizard in the world how bout you teach me that cool flame thing you did at the ministry? not to mention given all that he had to face let's have a majority of the book deal with petty high school relationships. what JK did to Hermione in book six was a travesty considering how strong and smart a character she was up until then. I wish she just would have kept them all friends and let fans read what they want into who ended up with who instead of making a whole book trying to justify stupid pairings. i pray to god they don't include the epilogue.

Spacing!
They left stuff out, like say DOBBY, that has a huge impact on this last movie. Also because they didn't go into detail about the Malfoys, the fate of that family after the fall of Riddle is going to confuse a lot of people. The first film should be okay, the second one will probably be a convoluted mess though.

Default Good news; Hogwarts Not Destroyed

Quote:
Over the weekend, news began to spread of a fire that broke out on the set of the latest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, destroying a set from the wizarding school of Hogwarts. I have just returned to my London hotel from the very same set, at Leavesden Studios in Watford, UK — and while I’m not allowed to tell you anything about my visit until a much later date, the unit publicist issued a statement to clarify what had happened.

For the most part, the statement confirms our previous report, but further clarifies what set had been destroyed during the blaze. Some news sources reported that the fire destroyed all of Hogwarts, and some even claimed it spread around the entirety of Leavesden Studios. This is not true.

And don’t worry, the fire did not destroy any of the long-standing sets from the original films in the series — The Great Hall, Dumbledore’s Office are among the sets that have remained over the years, and are still fine.

The second unit film crew were filming part of the big battle of Hogwarts sequence on Friday evening on the backlot. More specifically they were shooting “a big effect” needed for the sequence. There was a small fire stemming from the effects, which was mainly handled by the Leavesden Studios in-house fire brigade. As a precaution, the fire department was also called in from the local town. The fire was put out in under an hour with no damage to any equipment, and nobody was hurt. There were no principal cast on set at all, or even on the studio grounds.

What was destroyed? An exterrior Hogwarts courtyard set, but nothing more. The fire did not spread to other sets as the location was isolated. According to the representative for the Harry Potter film production, the set was going to have to be rebuilt anyways as it had encountered a lot of damage during the “Battle of Hogwarts” sequence, and was needed again, in its previous unharmed condition, for further filming. So apparently the destruction of the set was not a big deal after all.

Default Harry Potter Actors Describe DEATHLY HALLOWS as 'Bloody' and 'Gory'

Quote:
The Harry Potter site Snitchseeker.com spoke with actors Chris Rankin and Matthew Lewis at the Leed's Film Festival's Harry Potter Day.

The pair talked about HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS due out in theaters in two parts on November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011 respectively. They talked about how the films differ in tone from the six previous films, a bit about their co-stars, how the franchise ending will effect them and more!

Here are a few excerpts from the Matt about Deathly Hallows, use the player below to watch the entire interviews.

"It's like something from the Lord of the Rings. And David [Yates, director] as well as Steve Kloves [screenwriter] haven't shied away from the more severe stuff in it that was in the book. It's bloody and it's gory and it's very real. But it's been cool and it's not like anything I've had to do before."

"It's something that we've not tried before. We're trying to keep as much stuff as they can from the book in the film. We want to hit all the points and no one's making it into a good film everyone enjoys - we're going to stick to the book and we're gonna say, ‘Look, some of it is quite harrowing, some of its quite serious. People do die and you're just gonna have to ...' It's not sugar-coated. It's right there, it's quite raw and all the performances have had to step up.
"

How did you possibly hate the 7th novel? For being the most highly anticipated novel of all-time, it more than lived up to its expectations and wrapped things up in a very pleasing way.

Err .. Are you sure you've read the 7th book?

[Show spoiler] And this being said, I absolutely loved the 7th book. Very fitting conclusion, with a very satisfying ending imo.

Not sure where you got the part where Voldermort kills Harry though, as I'm pretty sure there is a Happily Ever After with Giny and their kid -named after Snape- at the end...

[Show spoiler]He dies temporarily before the Hallows bring him back, hence his "conversation" with Albus shortly after.

[Show spoiler]He's not brought back by the Hallows. There were two souls in his body, only one had to die.

That doesn't really make sense but it has been awhile since I've read the novel so I'll take your word for it.

[Show spoiler]When Harry goes to the "train station" and speaks with Dumbledore, there is a small shriveled up form a short distance away. The form is the fraction of Voldemort's soul he was preparing to create a Horcrux from after killing Harry. When the spell backfired on Voldemort, this portion of his soul was implanted into Harry's body making Harry a Horcrux. This portion of Voldemort's soul is what created the bond between them that was not broken by Voldemort's reincarnation and why Harry seemed to always overcome Voldemort even after Voldemort changed wands.

That's speculation. None of that was said. There's numerous theories on what happened in that scene.

So which part of the 7th book do you think they will use to split the movies at? Personally, I am thinking the first one will end with them
[Show spoiler]being caught by the Snatchers and dragged off to Malfoy Manor...to me this would give them the suspenseful cliffhanger that they need. But when I think about it, there really isn't much left to give the 2nd film any meat after that....they escape to Shell Cottage, talk about the Hallows, break into Gringots, and then go to Hogwarts for the final battles. I guess thay could split it where I assume they will and just extend the final battles alot in the final movie.

I probably need to re-read book 7. I just remember that
[Show spoiler]the middle-most 200-300 pages were slowly paced and somewhat boring, and over-ridingly depressing
. Splitting the movies during this part of the book wouldn't work well.

I also hope the producers don't go overboard with the "Dumbledore is gay!" thing. When I read the book, Dumbledore was still in the closet, and I interpreted his character, like many of the older faculty at Hogwarts, as essentially asexual. In HBP, the filmmakers added a few effeminate characteristics to Dumbledore which weren't in the book, and I hope they don't lose control during movies 7.1 and 7.2. I would hate for the Dumbledore we know from the books to be turned into a stereotype.

Since Dumbledore chose never to discuss his sexuality during his lifetime, which is his right, and never showed any evidence of inappropriate activity with Hogwarts students, it was in poor taste for JK Rowling to posthumously "out" him.
