That's impossibly fast. I really hope they aren't rushing a new game out for profits.....

I know, I was thinking the same thing. I almost want to email amazon to make sure. Gamestop has it listed for a August street date again.

Accoring to Gamestop Borderland was coming out in 2008. They have horrible dates.

They better announce a later date or tell us that they were working on this before AA came out and that was just a teaser.

Well if they are using the same game engine then it wouldn't be that difficult, plus I thought I read that they where first thinking of having a open world Gotham city for the game, but couldn't make it work correctly. Maybe they have figured it out now.

Looking forward to this one.

I agree, although, I have two thoughts that sorta, kinda, maybe ease my mind:

1) They started out with the Gotham City idea first, but scratched it for the AA, so maybe they have some of the city already built.

2) Remember AA was delayed for a few months, so maybe they had a team working on the second game during that time - or maybe AA became SO big that they basically made it into two games - and needed a few months to add to AA to make it a "complete game" and only need a few months to make this second game a "complete game."

The problem with both of these is that anyone who bought AA pretty much got shafted so they could double charge.

I don't feel that way at all.

AA was a kick-ass game. I can't remember how long the game play was, but I think it was a pretty long game.

Also, I would rather have either of my alternatives then them rushing to get a game out. If the rush, and it's crap, then I'll feel like I got the shaft because they rushed the game out to capitalize on the success of the first game.

So you don't feel like AA provided a good gameplay value for the money compared to other games released? I certainly do.

I don't get that logic - it's like saying that all those movies recently where they shot two installments back to back should really be released as one film and we're getting shafted because they had two.

IIRC, AA took quite a while to come out - the original anouncements about it were a good two years out from release. While a 2nd installment in February seems a little agressive, as people have noted, it is very possible that they are leveraging stuff that hit the cutting room floor in the first installment and that is allowing them to release faster.

More interesting/telling to me would be what role Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill have. I would think it would be harder to keep their voice acting secret and that may end up providing some clues on a release timetable.

I agree. No matter what the case is Arkham Asylum was a terrific game that was well worth $59.99. As long as Part 2 is not rushed I would be content w/ paying another $59.99 for it.

Hmm .... I been putting off on getting AA. Time to get off my arss before the next one comes out.

And just a thought!! But what would it do to the Batman movie franchise if the next movie ended by going into the story line that Gothem becomes a contained city as in the trailor and becomes Arkham City!! Then the following films could really be a 'darker' movie theme and the story lines could go anywhere. THAT would be sick!!!!!

Default Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 Will Be 'Really Dark'

Kevin Conroy lets slip a few details about Arkham Asylum 2, it might be spoilerish for some but it's nothing that has not been discussed before, but just in case.

April 20, 2010 - Two more villains have been confirmed for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2.

Voice actor Maurice LaMarche, who previously voiced Brain in Animaniacs and Egon Spengler in The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, confirmed on the GeekCast Radio podcast he'll be providing the voice for Mr. Freeze in the upcoming sequel.

"Videogames is hard work, I'll say that," LaMarche said. "I've only done a handful, and I'm very lucky right now, I'm about to go in and do Mr. Freeze for Arkham Asylum 2."

LaMarche couldn't go into much detail about the character, but did say Mr. Freeze will be very, very angry.

"To tell you the truth, I think, contractually, I can't. I've got to keep it under wraps," he said when asked to talk about the character. "As for Mr. Freeze's role in the game, he's out for blood right now because... I can't tell you the situation, but he's actually somewhat of a sympathetic character within the framework of the game."

Actor Stana Katic, star of ABC's Castle, also confirmed via her Twitter account she'll be voicing Talia al Ghul, daughter of Ra's al Ghul.

"Just recorded a character voice on the next Batman videogame. Never did that before," she wrote. "For those who were asking: I'm voicing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in "Batman Begins")." Her posts have since been deleted, but not before LeagueOfComicGeeks.com could snag a screenshot.

The list of villains continues to grow. Over the weekend, Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy confirmed Two-Face would also be in the game. Conroy also said Arkham Asylum 2 will be "really, really dark."

I agree Batman AA was an awesome game,it was the first game I liked enough to actually get the platnium for. It did feel a little short but with the free content and all the challenges it made it not so short. I was dissappointed with the hard difficulty, the only thing that seemed different was that there was no flash over the thugs heads when they were about to attack you. But nonetheless great game with great voice acting and great gameplay.

I think the single biggest draw that made AA successful was the deep combat system, and had it have been a mindless button masher, it would pretty much be an average action game.

AA's combat was easy enough to pick up, button mash, and beat the game, but to truly master the challenges you HAD to actually understand the combat mechanics, which truly made you feel like Batman himself. I remember being overwhelmed at first during the sewer bat challenge, thinking, how do they expect you to take 25 guys at once? But after mastering the combat, you felt like a total badass doing it, and made it all the more rewarding. Successful combat mechanics are a very very thin line, and AA hit the mark perfectly.

Not to mention the gadgets were cool too and how they were integrated into the combat

Yeah, I agree about the combat system. It was a rather short game, but I took my time the first time I went through it and in the end it felt complete enough.

Yeah, this was my 2nd platinum trophy. First was Infamous.
