Gladiator is not Universal. It wass Dreamworks in North America, and was sold to Soros Entertainment. Dreamworks used to be DISTRIBUTED by Universal (which is why you see the Uni logo on the old Gladiator DVDs), but that is no longer the case. Paramount now distributes Dreamworks. When Soros decides to release the old Dreamworks catalog on Blu-Ray, Paramount will distribute on their behalf.

Convoluted, yes. Exclusive to Universal, no.

but even on the start of the DVD it comes up Universal only

dreamworks appears no-where (i'm talking UK DVD by the way)

That's why I noted North America in my post. You are correct that Universal has the rights overseas.

I saw a special screening of Harold & kumar 2 and started to wonder if the first Harold and Kumar Go to white castle is coming out on blu-ray, i looked it up on yahoo, and saw its distrubuted by new line cinema but i saw the screening at a Warner Bros. backlot.

the latest DVD has just come out on HD-DVD but i'm not sure if thats an exclusive or not (i'm assuming so as it seems silly to only release it on one format for such a huge movie)
