No problem. I just look at the whole picture. You have a great receiver, and if you had preouts it would be hard to justify any type of an upgrade there IMO.

If I had preouts on my Sony, I would have happily used it as a pre/pro.

People who have never owned a Sony reciever tend to knock them. This is also true about some speaker/subwoofer brands and some TV brands. Sony makes pretty good receivers, particularly the ES line. Their non ES lreceivers are very good value as starting receivers. Sony receivers also have one of the best user interfaces.

Oh and I fully agree, if it had pre-outs... when I did get it, I kinda was unsure about not having got the 2400ES or the Pio 1018....

Oh well.... Live and learn, but for the speakers I have and its performance and features, its awesome.....

Oh Oh Oh....I got another one. My older sony receiver is powering my living room home theater since it handles 4ohms till I get another pioneer elite receiver to pair up with my nad amp. Be better if that sony receiver had pre out so I could use my Nad amp that has been sitting unused for awhile. OH well...Sony rocks
I do like their products. If I were buying new there is a lot of other receivers I'd buy over them. Doesn't mean I think they are bad. I'd keep the old sony receiver I have for sure if it had hdmi and preouts. Ps3 can't get HD audio from using that and nad amp is useless with it.

BTW, my first multi-channel receiver was a Sony. It was fine while I had it, but thought the Kenwood Stereo receiver it replaced was leaps and bounds better.

Nothing I have seen from Sony has really blown me away beside the XBR2 or 3, I think. That was a nice TV except for the butt ugly speakers on the sides.

I would be more interested to see the results of the people that set themselves a budget up front and stuck with it or even came in under. I think that list would be pretty small.

You are lucky. My wife has no expensive hobbies (except me), leaving me with...guilt.
