I don't mean to alienate anybody here, but anybody I have talked to who disliked it seems to have made some really really weak arguments. Can't please everybody though, I personally very much enjoyed this movie and would like to re-watch it in some capacity.

LOL @ Foggy...............but I remember watching "Death Becomes Her" in theatres and not liking it, but took a second spin on VHS and appreciated it and wound up buying it...

Mike53421 - I never really provided an argument - but I will now:

** SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT **
[Show spoiler]
1) The woman "shh'ing" Leo in the previews was only in that ONE scene
2) They hyped this as a thriller/horror style movie
3) Towards the end you didn't know what was reality and what was not
4) The entire story was chalked up as being in his mind

Now, some of those can be strengths as in a movie like "The Sixth Sense", but I think this was a poor attempt at mastering that theme. Like I said, I'll rent it again to see if maybe I was tired or irritable in the movies that day

Loved about the first 30 minutes of it, then I saw where they were going and it was downhill from there. I love the previous Dennis LeHane movies (Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River) but this was not in that class. I thought the directing, acting, and music was all top notch, though.

Then your issue is with Paramount's marketing dept., not the movie.

If you were paying even halfway attention, yes, you do.

Which proves you weren't even paying halfway attention.

I would highly recommend that, yes. You missed the whole enchilada, my friend.

1) Creepy in that ONE scene, nonetheless haha.
2) One could argue it was a creepy movie, "YOU'RE IT!"
3) I felt that was one of the strengths. I was totally sober while watching but found it to be a complete trip of a movie for that reason.
4) Umm...

With a matinee price and me being glued to my seat at the theater while viewing loving every minute of it, what more can I ask for?

Day 1 purchase and I cannot wait. I expect the BD quality to be OUTSTANDING by the way and bet I'm not disappointed.

I thought it was a very good film with fine performances by an outstanding cast. A very sad but thought-provoking film. It took me a while to figure it out. It was the rats that started to tip me off. Scorsese is one of my very favorite directors. Quality stuff.

Wow really? that's a convincing statement for me to blind buy haha

I had pre-ordered on some site to get it a couple weeks early, but I've learned from my mistakes of blind buying certain movies. I do really wanna see this movie though.

Lots of movies are unfortunately love or hate and I sure that was the reaction especially with this one in the theater. No accounting for one's taste as always.

It has the potential for great BD quality no doubt in my mind and hopefully it will get good treatment. I'm kind of hoping the weather is crappy when I watch this as that setting would be perfect but I will not wait once it is in my hands.

Completely agree. I'm not talking about people on this site, but rather people in general. People who did not like this movie because they misunderstood the ending, seemed to not pay this film enough attention in the theater, or to be blunt, just may have a lack of intelligence.

I didn't have a chance to see this in the theater but I have heard nothing but great things from my friends.

This will definitely be a blind buy for me. IMO you can't really go wrong with Scorsese and Dicaprio.

With Amazon's prices recently, I won't be surprised if it does go down to $19.99. It's Complicated and Saving Private Ryan both dropped to that price.
