You know just a couple of days ago I was thinking to myself about how I would like to see The Breakfast Club come to Blu-ray.

Overrated movie in my opinion.

That's what I'm getting. I've been waiting for these to drop to a reasonable price for a while now.

I own that movie on HD-DVD .. Looked and sounded already pretty good but a new treatment by Universal would be nice.. But so far on Titles I own both on HD-DVD and Blu there is sadly little difference..

Likewise. I can't wait to watch St. Elmo's Fire in Blu! I love the soundtrack! Emilio Estevez's character is my favorite. I had a crush on Andie McDowell (picked up Groundhog Day on Blu at a great price this week, too!). Hopefully we'll see the release of Pretty in Pink in Blu soon as well! Even better soundtrack! I love the 80's!!

Never bought this on DVD and have been wanting to see it on Bluray for awhile now.

Will be getting this and Kick-Ass on August 3rd!

I'm stoked for this release. I watched it around June 20th last year for the first time and really loved it. It was arguably the best summer for me last year, this contributes to that fact.

I really, really hope Universal doesn't F this up like most of their catalog titles lately. It looked decent on HD DVD - just re-encode it to a higher bit rate and LEAVE IT BE.

On a more serious note, even though that I love this movie, I don't see why one would want to upgrade from the DVD. There isn't much about this movie that I can think of that would lend itself better in HD. Am I missing something??
Some DVDs-- especially the older ones-- look pretty grainy on bigger TVs. I went from a 27" Sony CRT to a 40" Sony LCD and lots of my older DVDs (pre-2002) don't look as good on my 40".

Xorque, this movie was a classic. It captured the Generation X angst so well. I'm 40 and remembered when this movie came out. John Hughes was a master of this type of movie.

I have to agree with you on this. It's a movie that has great appeal for many who were teenagers when this came out. Is it a cinematic masterpiece? Of course not, but to those who have fond memories of being in high school at thie time it ranks right up there.

Is this coming to the UK also? If not are Universal titles usually region-free? If it's not out in the UK and is locked i will go craaaaaazy! I've been holding out on this on BD for so long
