Well Sony just made a lot of EU people to consider buying a region A capable player with not giving the original aspect ratio and with forcing Anchor Bay to region lock their US release.

Lucky me, my player should arrive soon (takes damn long time to ship though). Sorry for all of you Evil Dead EU fans that haven't got a region A player.

it was what pushed me to get one, along with the superior regA release of Kick-Ass. Did Sony force AB to lock their release? I've not heard anything official on AB's reason for doing it.

Actually I haven't heard anything official, but what other reasons could there be?

i'm not sure really, but i'd expect the request to have most likely come from Raimi & Tapert, as it's usually from copyright holders, to increase the likelihood of overseas sales. If this is the case here, i'm not sure.
AB were definately made to do it though, theres no doubt on that.

Anchor Bay locks all of their releases now, Hatchet is locked too.

that's bad news. With the likes of Shout Factory, Criterion and Media Blasters also locking everything, it's looking as if international fans of non-mainstream films have no choice but to splash out on the expense of a multi-region player now.

Already a thread for this one, but while I'm here, I've had this on-and-off pre-order several times. I'm just gonna wait for this to hit the stores now.

Yes the only aspect ratio to watch the movie on the UK blu-ray is 1.85:1.

Kinda sucks if you ask me.

Looks and sounds about as good as it ever could (not amazing, but still very good in my opinion).

I tried to watch the PIP commentary and I could not hear any audio from the PIP track. Anyone else have this problem?

No problems with the PIP track on my Samsung although it does cause momentary pauses when played on my laptop (sound is fine though). It would have been better as a 40 minute documentary with clips though as there's a lot of dead air.
