Here are some fun facts from the Rue Morgue article I thought some on here might like:
1. The budget for the film was $35,000 and the film grossed almost $250,000,000 theatrically worldwide. 2. The entire film was shot with a $500 Hi-8 camera and an old CP 16mm film camera. 3. The actors used thier real names and shot the footage themselves. 4. The inspiration for the film was the 70's In Search Of... series and the The Legend Of Boggy Creek which was a fake documentary about the legend of Bigfoot. 5. The movie was filmed by just dumping the actors in the woods with the camera's and some walkies for emergencies. At certain points they would find character baskets in the woods that would tell them some direction or motivation about the character. The others would not know this and they would then play off that. All of the acting was improv and the actors did not know what was gonna happen next, except for thier character baskets. The night raids were real and were done by the filmmakers in camo, they were surprises. Heather almost had a nervous breakdown when they got into the house at the end because she was too into the reality of the situation. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I love this film. Watched it in the cinema, got a special edition boxset with a brilliantly written dossier book (as seen here when it came out on VHS, did a media coursework assignment on it for my a-levels and watched it countless times on DVD.
edit - Just read on wiki that a remake set in scotland is apparently in the works and another sequel is being pitched!! Last edited by jonno394; 07-11-2010 at 07:55 PM. |

I have that. LOL!
As far as the movie goes, it creeped me out when I saw it. Maybe it's cause I hadn't heard about the hype surrounding it, I just heard it was kind of creepy. I don't know that this would benefit a ton from a Blu-ray release though. All it'll likely do is confuse the average consumer that buys it thinking it's gonna be all high-def shiny. |

This is going to be in par with the 28 Days Later BD when it comes to PQ, completely un-High Definition. Of course it wasnt shot using HD cameras, so thats completely expected. Dont get me wrong I've been awaiting for a Blu-ray release for this title for a long time, but to think the PQ will not be reference material is just a bummer. DTS HD 7.1 will sure rock though

The OAR was 1.37:1 as it was shot, shown in the theater, the DVD and now the blu-ray. So you'll have to live with the black bars on the sides. ![]() |
