Anyways, I had gone into a Def Tech dealer in Johnson City Tennessee and had the opportunity to speak with the owner of the company. He told me he has stopped selling the Def Techs but wanted me to hear the Golden Ear speakers..

What I had practically decided on was the BP8080 and CS8080 but just needed a listen to confirm.

The Triton Two towers sounded incredible and I am sure they would do a great job as a front speaker......but the tiny center channel has me worried. I have always been a fan of a full range center and just think that the Supersat 50C might underwelm me.. My thought was to purchase a pair of these and see how they work with my current center channel before purchasing the 50c. I asked if this would be something he would recommend and I was told if I didn't like the way they sounded, he would take them back...

I guess I wanted to see how the 50c does as a center channel?
There is absolutely no reason to use a full-range center speaker. Too much bass from the center channel can mask the higher frequencies from the center channel and make the dialog less intelligible. Regardless of the size of the center speaker, you should set the center channel to SMALL with a crossover frequency of around 80Hz and redirect all the center channel bass frequencies to the subwoofer(s).

Those are some good points and I appreciate the information very much. I am going to see if the dealer will allow me to do a full in home demo of those three speakers. This might be the only way I will really be able to tell if I will like them...

The Home Theater Magazine (Sep 20, 2011) had a very positive review of the GoldenEar SuperCinema 3 Speaker System ($1,750) by Mark Fleischmann.

Right on. I am a recent arrival to the multi-channel world, but had the same conclusion just going by my own ears.

I am bouncing back and forth between a pair of Triton2's and a Supersat50c or the Mirage OMD-28's and a OMD-C2.

Anybody over here compare the two at all or any of the other Mirage omni-polar speakers?

Thanks..

COACH, I use The Triton 2's up front with a supersat 50 and have 4 Mirage omnisat 1's and 2 mirage prestige speakers. I think you can't go wrong with the Triton's. They are superb sounding and mesh quite well with the mirage speakers. That is because the Triton's have a wide sound stage which are complimented very nicely by the mirage surrounds.

I have reviewed these speakers and i have to tell you now that i have over 100 plus hours on them, they are like a fine bourbon, better with time.

Knowing the Mirage line up well, I feel like you are getting more for your money with the triton's.

Let me know what you think as you break in these babies? I will tell you i set my crossover for 80 hz and turned the dial to 12 o' clock as recommended to me. After about 30-50 hours i had to turn them back to the 10'o'clock position. They shook the room. And i like my bass!

Excellent buy you won't be dissapointed.

Anyone wanting to see up close pictures of the Triton 2's and supersat 50 can go to my gallery for photos of the unboxing. Just in case you might want to see what they look like

I listen to 5.1 set up of GoldenEar speakers at a guys house last Saturday. He was using Anthem MRX300 and they sounded very good.

I was told i was the first to have the Triton 2's on this site, so subsequently, i got Goldenear added to the floorstanding speaker tab so others could see my review and so others could do their own review.

Interestingly enough i drove up to Toronto Canada and went to the inaugural Toronto Audio Video Electronics Show (TAVES) yesterday. I went into the Paradigm booth, where Paradigm ran a full demo with a $15000 S series system.

Using an Anthem set up of course because it is made by Paradigm the Vicepresident of Paradigm demoed the 15K set-up.

I wasn't that impressed! The Goldenear Tritons sound much sharper and open. Their fidelity i found to be much more detailed and ambient.

Goldenear, money well spent

I know, I had the same issue when buying the Mirage I went with them based on reviews, owners thoughts, and reputation. I did listen to many speakers prior to the Mirage and did not care for them. I do have a place down the street from me that have the Goldenear and have been meaning to get over there to give them a listen, they also carry B&W's which I love.
