Wait, why? It's been broadcast in HDTV since the first episode in 2001 (or at least "EDTV", can't remember now)... Would they seriously go back and retransfer it from the film elements??

I have no idea. Either way, you'll see the second half of the show on Blu-ray before the first.

Do I have to see the series to understand 24: Redemption? Some say it's stand alone and others say I will be lost without seeing the seasons first.

Sorry guys, I must've misread. Sigh, so no season 1-6 on Blu? Can I skip them and just watch season 7 & 8 or do I really need to watch the first 6 seasons to be able to enjoy them?

I only watched the first 2 seasons of this show. Great show, I must say. There's just a lot of episodes to catch up with, so I never found the time to watch Seasons 3-8.

But yes, this is one show you DEFINITELY should start with at the beginning and watch in order.

Each season is pretty much its own story, and the same goes for Redemption. Though you would definitely miss out on a lot of good stuff by skipping the first 6 seasons.

This was answered already ... and you could, but I would advise against it. You lose the character development and the journey.

They don't have the first six seasons on Blu-ray YET. Give them some time.

You probably could, but I wouln't do that. As has been said, most seasons are self contained, but you do need to watch the other seasons to understand some of the plot devices. For example, Jack & Nina's plot devices in seasons 2 & 3, and the whole Chinese plot after season 4, they carry over across multiple seasons from the events that started them, and without having seen those seasons, you're not really going to understand the reasons behind the plots.

I'm looking forward to 24 Season 8 in blu-ray, but it's a shame it'll be the only one in Blu-Ray in my collection. Definately a re-buy in a mega boxset in Blu-Ray when they release it.

It's DVD only. Only season 7 and soon 8 will be on Blu-ray for now.

I've always gotten the new season of 24 for christmas. I have seasons 1-6 on DVD, 7 on bluray, and will be getting 8 on bluray this christmas. I can be absolutely patient for a whole series boxset, and I will drop a reasonable price or higher (since I never bought any of my original seasons to begin with) for the entire boxset on blu.

Then, of course, I will see the midnight showing of the 24 movie if they ever release that haha

Last season was decent up untill the last episode.
I hated the last episode.
I got seasons 1 - 5 on dvd, 6 was so bad that I skipped it and not got 7 yet.
Will wait till they are cheap on dvd. No matter how much I loved Seasons 1 - 5 I cant jutify upgrade to blu cause of last 3 seasons.

It wasn't a great finale, but the final scene was a fitting conclusion to the show(and a perfect setup for a movie if they ever decide to make it).

i started watching this show in season 5 and have loved it right down to the end. i thought the series ender was great; i'm kinda surprised to hear so many of you that not only didn't like it but in some cases say they hated it! i am of course respectfull of everyone, just a bit confused. i am hopeful that they will be releasing the entire collection next year so that i can watch it from the beginning. i loved it's PQ & AQ on HD-cable so i am sure it will be stunning in 1080p & I am hopeful for a lossless audio track as well. there is no question that i'll be buying 24 the complete series once it's available. Jack would have wanted it that way

It was such a brilliant final series but I'm hoping thats not the end.

I have the UK version which I bought a number of weeks ago and I can say that the PQ, in my opinion is better than that of season 7, but its not quite reference material. I'd give it a 4/5 in terms of PQ. The AQ is also good too and the special features disc pretty decent, but the content isn't in HD as its on a DVD, which is ashame.

Definatly can't wait for the movie!

My screener from Fox hasn't shown up yet--they usually get press copies out by street date--so I probably won't get a review up until later this week, unfortunately. (I didn't catch season 8 on TV, so I'm looking forward to a massive marathon this week.)

Okay, thanks for the heads up. I am curious if the Season 8 Wrap Party Reel will be included on the Blu-ray. It is the only thing not included on the bonus disc in the UK Blu-ray. I guess I will find out tomorrow.
