Open Season Box Set

I just ordered my copy now as I'd only rented Open and Cloudy before and they both have excellent 3D in them.....

Cool.

Open Season was ahead of the curve as it was released in 2006, and still has some of the best 3D out there, with Dreamworks finally catching up thankfully. Now time for Disney to follow with strong 3D and no more average 3D efforts.

I paid £1 more for that boxset Gae and that was already a bargain. Enjoy your purchase! I had only seen Monster House before getting the set but loved the other two.

I agree, however for some strange reason, TANGLED by Disney is one of the stronger 3D movies out there? It's more PIXAR then Disney I think that needs to crank up the 3D dial a few more notches!

Just watched this one and was surprised at how good the 3D was here considering it was an early release compared to other animated features, yet it wouldn't look too out of place if released in the cinemas today.

Anyone know if there are any plans to put the sequels into 3D?

This is a fun 3-D movie. Designs are simple but animation is smooth and colors are bright with a good voice cast. Really strong depth here and many pop-outs. If you and/or your family need a short break from life, this one won't disappoint.

Yes it’s still an excellent 3D watch

No plans as they were only rendered in 2D from my research, and direct to video.

Open Season, the scene with the rapids, looks amazing in strong stereo 3D. Most shots in this animated CGI film are in stronger 3D. And it was released in theaters in 2006.

This was my 86 year old Dads favourite movie, the fact it was 3D was a bonus, trying to come to terms still that he passed away last Sunday on Father’s Day. He was just the best.

Edit, apologies I got a little mixed up last night, to much wine.. My dads actual favourite movie was Despicable Me, I thought I was in that thread.

My Condolences....did you show your dad both in 3D? They both have a great combo of in your face 3D plus a fun story. Hopefully he saw them in 3 dimensions before passing.

wow what a great 3D experience this is. I rewatched it the other day, if only all 3D movies were this strong. Not just animation either, every 3D movie could be given a presentation as strong as this, it really is spectacular.

It was my first 3D movie and also my introduction to ghosting, which was absolutely horrible on my plasma. It was a while ago but I remember this has some good popouts.

Yes, 2006's Open Season is the definition of Strong 3D, and is comparable to even some of NWave's 3D efforts, I'll dare to say, as amazing as those 3D films are in terms of 3D strength and pop outs.

Great first choice for a 3D film on blu ray 3D.
The first 3D movie I saw in a movie theater was Spy Kids 3D, where they actually had the red/cyan glasses. Prior to that, I only saw 3D anaglyph movies on TV broadcasts on Saturday nights in the 80s, and occasionally saw stereo 3D polarized films at Theme Parks.

Then in 2007, they released Beowulf 3D and I was thrilled they were finally bringing Theme Park 3D movies to cinemas.

I should watch it again, I barely even remember how it was depth wise.

Default Still here in 2024

This is still the best 3D ever released. Nothing comes close to this film for constant jawdropping depth and full screen dimensionality. My LG 65E6 is slowly dying, but we are having one last tour of our favourite 3D movies.

Nothing will better this.

Stunning 3D. A strong recommend to anyone who is on the fence about getting it.

I bought this movie in a 3 pack with Monster House and Cloudy Meatballs 1 about 3 years ago. Is this better than Madagascar 3?

Edit:
I had a quick look and Open Season is an awesome 3D presentation. Better by far than any Pixar 3D and up there with the best animated 3D movies. But compared to M3 it's not even close.

I thought the 3D in Open Season was amazing so if you’re saying the 3D in Madagascar 3 3D is better I will pick it up. Was there ever 3D for Madagascar 1 and 2? I don’t seem to be able to find it.

Site reference makes no mention of a 1 or 2. But M3 isn't just better than Open Season or even just reference or demo. M3 is a Reference Demo. Madagascar 3 is a @JD3D wet dream and if he's seen the movie I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying so
