Well, here is the really funny thing. I've got the Great Adventures Volume 3, and Apocalypse (and lets throw in Life while I am at it). All are 1080i/50hz, but don't exhibit any of the speed up issues that plague these discs.

Here is the real kicker. Top Gear Polar Special was filmed in 1080i/60hz, and thus the U.K. Blu-Ray doesn't have those issues. This means that BBC America used the Broadcast 1080i/50hz and a shitty job post production.

Hmm, well I will have to take a look at my rips then. Maybe just my love of Top Gear overshadowed the SD. Though, it is a pretty pathetic upconvert if I do say so myself. The Boneville Special (Great Adventures Vol. 3) and The Doctor Who SD Special looked a lot better ><

Disappointed to hear that some of the music is missing and that the PQ is uneven in spots. When the Blu-rays get here from Amazon this weekend I'm going to compare them to my HD rips and if I'm not pleased with the quality I might put them up for sale here on the site. If anyone is interested I'll gladly sell here rather than bothering with eBay.

Since both series have the same number of episodes (7), I'd be hard-pressed to explain why one required more space.

FYI, for those who already have the Polar Special blu, Amazon is offering $13.50 on a trade-in, making the purchase of Series 14 a net cost of $8.49. I just traded mine in, you ship it off to the merchant for free and they put a GC in your account upon receipt.

Actually, Series 15 has only 6 episodes. Series 14 has 7 episodes plus another episode as an extra. They both have similar other special features with Series 14 having one more behind the scenes with the SiaRPC segment and Series 15 having just a few more other featurettes. Series 14 has audio commentary for the Bolivia special, as well, while Series 15 has 15 minutes cut from one episode. This should explain quite nicely why Series 15 is a few dollars cheaper than Series 14. I hope that's enough to answer the question in full.

Series 15 has 7 episodes and the 7.th is the best one and not on the disc.
Here they drive the Ferrari 458,SLS AMG and a Porsche GT3RS in the US and have a race in New York City to a TV studio.
This should be on a US release.

Just wondering if anyone has checked the Australian Blu-Rays to see if they're at 1080i50 since they're targeted at a PAL market? Seasons 14-17 were released there back in 2011.
