I have seen Avatar on blu twice, and even saw it in the cinema. I have owned the extended version since it's release, but have not yet had the interest of watching it.

I don't think the extended/extra/additional scenes are reason enough for me to double dip..and I don't care much for extra stuff like behind the scenes or what not..but the Cover Art of the CE looks so enticing..if I didn't get the initial release..I would definitely get the CE..but if by chance I find a killer deal on the CE, then it will be my 1st double dip

Bought the original for $20, upgraded to the CE for $25, sold the original for $15. So not bad, but I couldn't resist the CE.

Well I went to the theatre twice, once in 2D and once in 3D. I found the colour, contrast and detail much better in the 2D version, but the 3D was cool! Still don't think that 3D is perfected and expect it will drastically improve in the next ten years. So I double dipped (daughter bought it for my birthday) and got the extended disc as I absolutely love the video and audio quality of this movie, and although the plot is thin, the movie allows me to fantasize and think, what if? The CE offers more eye and audio candy but one extra scene is a disappointment. Although I didn't notice the error originally, it has been pointed out that following Jake's battle with Colonel Miles Quaritch at the end of the movie you will remember he comes out of his "Avator" body and is being held by Neytiri. It would appear that the linking apparatus has also been destroyed but in the next scene he is back in his Avatar body and comforting Tsu'tey in his death throws after falling out of the sky and being shot. Other than that, this film has tremendous re-watchability" in my house.

Same, i just dont see a point.
Whereas buying first edition had a point because I wanted to see the movie as soon as possible.

I will not buy another Avatar edition until 3D super collectible extreme edition mega box set comes out.

I bought both, the bare-bones and the CE. While I think the movie as a visual feast is something out of this world, no pun intended, I thought the theatrical release was missing something. Basically, the TC lacked a lot of justification for the ultimate attack on the Na'avi and then defection of the Michelle Rodriquez character. IMO, the CE answered those two questions. Thus making the EC, a much better film. But let's face it, Avatar is still a retelling of Dances With Wolves on an alien planet.

I guess the point is 16 extra minutes that really enhances the film, plus hours and hours of extras? That's a pretty big point.

I think I'll stick with my bare bones copy. I saw the CE in the theater and that was enough for me.

I stayed with the first one. I'll probably get a 3D tv next year and Avatar should be seen in 3D.

I did the opposite. I was glad that the CE edition was announced early on so I waited for it.

I waited guessing there would be eventually be a special edition. I don't do single-disk movie-only releases unless it is confirmed to be the only version and only once it's in the bargain bin! I wish these people would get the point, but it won't happen if people continue to bite. I'll double-dip for the 3D version once I have a 3DTV.

So far I have stayed with the bare bones version because they are ripping us a new one on the price they want. I will replace mine no sooner than the price goes below $20 at bare minimum.

It was ~$22 on Amazon recently. Probably not far off from that at the moment. I ALWAYS buy on sale, never full price.
