I cannot believe we still don't have the theatrical cut here.

I love this movie, but the unrated cut is perhaps interesting as an alternative version, not as the actual movie, since it changes the tone significantly, and makes it play more like that serious psycho trailer, than the light/good-hearted movie it was in cinemas. Damn you, Warner!
Yes, you can get both the theatrical or unrated cuts in Digital HD. I was able to get it with VUDU's $5 disc-to-digital program using my old snapper-case DVD. I don't think they're running that program anymore, but I don't think it's too expensive. It's about what you'd expect for an older HD master in streaming quality, but it's definitely better than watching the old DVD.

Since when? I just tried it on the phone app version of Disc to Digital and it works fine. I've also done several other titles within the last 2 months with no issue. Where are people getting that it's defunct? People keep telling me this but I've been continuing to use it with no problem at all.

I recall it being announced as being discontinued a while ago, but maybe it hasn't gone into effect yet.

Gotcha. I caught it in time, then. When I did the program for Dumb and Dumber, I didn't have the case anymore so I put the DVD in my drive and had the app read it. I don't think I have almost any DVD in the original case anymore so that's it for me!

It's disgusting, and for me, totally destroys the good-natured spirit of the theatrical cut.

I would have been ok with the additional song scene in the pickup truck, but this is way too much, although I enjoyed seeing more of Carrey, but some scenes are really better out (as mentioned previously).

As for the quoted post, if memory serves the bird killing was always part of the movie, not just the unrated cut as was the toilet assault by sea bass.

Killing the bird was a huge plot point of how he got extra money by selling the bird to the blind kid.

The toilet assault is definitely extended, we get a bit of sea bass pubes, but it was always in the movie.

I noticed a few scene extensions. The hot tub scene is def extended and not really needed, but overall the unrated cut doesn’t ruin the movie for me. Still a top 5 all time comedy.

The PQ on this blu ray is pretty crappy, no doubt about that. Hopefully a 4K release can take care of that.

A 4k release of the theatrical cut would be awesome. I still haven't bothered to open the blu since I don't want to watch the extended cut again. The tv cut of Ace Ventura had some funny stuff though that I'd watch again as extras if a 4k came out.

I just bought the blu ray of ace ventura from hamilton books, hasn’t arrived yet, cuz it had the poster on it of the original dvd release that had the dolphin trainer scene. But reading the reviews they all say that scene isn’t on the actual disc, so that sucks.

As for D&D, i have to admit, when I clicked on this thread, I only noticed the first page and thought I was bumping up a 10 year old thread! Only after submitting my post did I realize I added absolutely nothing new to the conversation!

I do see what people are saying about Lloyd in this that he comes off a little more dickish than in the theatrical cut, but the theatrical cut also had that underlying trait for Lloyd, I mean dude did essentially poison his best friend!

Also I don’t remember if in the theatrical cut they had the cops following Harry and Lloyd after they give the dude rat poison in the restaurant?

Still a great flick though. During this pandemic I have gone back and watched some of my all time favorite comedies (Team America, Sausage Party, Caddyshack, This Is The End, Tropic Thunder, Step Brothers, They Came Together)

Not sure what gives this is a big enough title for a UHD release and I do hope they include boths cuts if they ever do one.

The plot point was the same, but it's edited differently. Or maybe it's just an extra sound effect. I'm not sure, it's been a while since I watched it, and I didn't compare them side by side, but I'm pretty sure there's some difference that makes it come across as more violent and (arguably) less silly.

There must be a conspiracy to destroy Jim C's early comedies. The uncut version of Dumb and Dumber ruins the movie, and the theatrical version of Ace, which is fine, is left empty after watching the unrated cut from the dvd.

I own the the superior TC of Dumb and Dumber on Digital, I would still love it on BD.

I absolutely refuse to watch the bastardized version, it completely ruins the movie.

A lot of the extra stuff in the Unrated cut is stuff that was in the cut that made the UK back in 1995. So I've always seen Harry emptying the toilet out of the window etc. So many variants of this film it's ridiculous

Yeah, I think you actually see the bird's neck get broken and hear a crunch. It's creepy and not at all funny, just like pretty much everything else added to the unrated cut.

The UK DVD was and I was told that the BluRay was too. The cut bit was where they pick up the Mexican's. I have the longer "un-rated " version but I hate the extra scenes. Ruins the film.

When I watched it, there was one joke I thought "Oh, that's funny, and I don't remember that." But when I went back and checked, it was still there in the original, it just stood out more when they added in crap on either side of it. I don't remember what that joke was, but, yeah, I've never seen an extended cut with a worse ratio of "good changes" to "bad changes".
