That being said, I will not use it. I have no need for it and no interest in 3D. That does not make me a hater, I just don't have any need for it.

On the same token, what is it with all the 3D fans wanting everyone to love it as well?
don't be paranoid, no one called you a hater or addressed you personally
i don't love 3d either or want somebody to love it.
i just commented on technical progression. have a look at post 57, others
got the point
i don't need 3d right now either, but things always change, nothing stays the same forever.
just don't be narrowminded and stuck in the present day, keep an open perspective for possible future changes (industry forced or not)......thats all i was saying

No, but that is due to various factors.
Those factors are, that I have only seen Avatar and Tron Legacy in 3D, and while I enjoyed them, the 3D wasn't needed.

And the fact that I can't afford a 3D set up doesn't help either, lol.

If a movie comes out on blu-ray that I want, and there's a 3D equivalent, then I may be inclined to buy the combo pack. For example, I'll gladly buy Tron Legacy if it's released in a combo pack. The thing is that I don't plan on upgrading my setup to 3D for a looong time.

I don't think that's the way it is at all. It seems to me that this forum is swamped with people constantly talking about how much the can't stand 3D and all of the reasons that it is a terrible technology for a multitude of different reasons. There is nothing wrong with that at all because it is how they feel and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Then as soon as someone says something like "I love 3D and think it's a great technology", they are accused of shoving it down everyone's throats.

Surely you don't have a problem with people being as passionate about enjoying 3D technology as other are about disliking it?

I have no problem if people are passionate about 3D, good for them I am glad they are enjoying it. I don't wish it away.

My problem is how so many of them jump on you as soon as you dare say you are not as happy about it as they are BANG you are a hater because you dare not enjoy something they enjoy and not being positive about it.

It seem that the people who are passionate about it do have a problem that others are not however.

And even if it isn't (which it is), without the proper screen, 3D-Blu only comes out as 2D-Blu anyway.

(Even Disney's ads have started saying "Future-proof your collection!" to skeptical 3D non-buyers who don't have their screen or player yet...
Which is a bit of foresight their ads never quite seemed to get around to when they first started bundling DVD copies for the first skeptical Blu-ray non-buyers.)

Yeah I dont mind throwing in the extra $ for a movie that I want in 3D, A Christmas Carol, Saw VII and Resident Evil 4 but for something like Clash of the Titans or Alice in Wonderland I'm good w/ 2D.

i don't like 3d all that much, but once and a while it's definitley a fun change of pace.

anyone who thinks it's a fad is 100 percent wrong, i guarantee it. the general public loves 3d, and that's where the money is. with the continued improvement in graphics, it only stands to reason that 3d will penetrate the market even more.

i haven't bought any 3d blu's yet, but I think I'll go after the "Tangled" one, and then get a 3d tv next black friday. I have a feeling there are going to be some nice 3d releases. of course, i do prefer 2d for most things, but would I rather watch Tron in 3d or 2d? Occasionally 3d will be nice, and in my eyes it's the future of cinema. Not because I want it to, no no no. Unfortunately however, us film buffs on this site are not the 'be all end all.' It's the people who would never post here, the general public, that will decide it.

I hope to upgrade to 3D this year (finances depending) but i'll proberly start getting a few titles when they are released (Christmas Carol, Piranha, Resident Evil, Legends of the Guardians) and i'll proberly double dip on a few (Polar Express, Monster House & possibly Clash of the Titans)

Won't be suckered into buying the bundle exclusives though at a high price though

This is 100% true. 3D is making a comeback because studios have been suffering and need to make more money. Screw 3D.

If they ever manage to fix the color/sharpness/detail issues that plague 3D releases AND get rid of the glasses, I might be interested. But I think before the technology gets to that point, this fad will have passed.

It's a gimmick, just like D-Box. Except people don't have to wear glasses on their asses for that.

Good Thread! I was just talking about this to my friend as I saw this commercial last night. It showed all 4 disk which included the bluray 3D, bluray, digital copy, & dvd. I then made my decision to start buying those copies so if I ever epgrade to a 3D tv I will be ready and I can still watch the 2D bluray as well. That was a good idea by the companies to do that!

Matter of fact I am gonna go return my Despicable Me & Legend of the Guardians which I havnt opened neither and upgrade to the 4 disk 3D versions today. Got Em!!

From what I've seen released.... there is only one movie available in 3D (that I'm aware of I guess) that I even want to watch, and it is also a potential purchase (2D version, 3D version.... whatever is cheaper) but that's it....

That movie is "Despicable Me" because I heard good things about it, and I have kids I haven't seen anything else available as 3D that I have any interest in seeing yet.

It's good that you feel that way...... I think it's a great idea too. I never understood why people get all angry when their Blu-rays come with DVD copies...... It's for people who want to travel with them, or for people with kids, or people who haven't upgraded to Blu-ray yet..... The "Just give me a digital copy" crowd always puzzled me.

I'm not sure when, or indeed if I'll be getting a 3D set up but I am buying the 3D version of movies just in case.

So far, it seems logical to do so with releases including the 2D and 3D versions in the same packaging. Seems almost silly not to get the 3D version as well.

I like 3D, and I like 2D. I have lots of 3D Blu-rays. If a title is in 3D and 2D I get the 3D version every time.

Maybe the reason people don't like 3D is because most of the 3D movies are crap anyway no matter how many D's they have.

FWIW I didn't vote because I have a 3D projector.

I did with Tron ... It was cheaper to get the 3D combo pack with Tron and Tron: Legacy than it was to buy the seprate 2D releases ... Shortly after I ended up buying a new TV that was 3D capable, the glasses came free and my PS3 is able to play 3D blu's so I was all set lol
