Lol. It will still be funny.

Back on topic.. I will add House of Flying Daggers as a more recent movie to fit the topic. A well done film that fits the tragedy genre well while being an excellent martial arts movie as well.

well, on a serious note...i thought the karate kid was sad. i really thought johnny lawrence could pull that last fight off, but the crane kick was his undoing.

This is Spinal Tap... when that drummer spontaneously combusted on stage! I had to leave the theatre.

It is all a dream or daydream - everything in the fantasy world is an escape from reality, but the events and interactions with the fawn materialize from and are parallel to the dilemmas and choices she faces in the real world and the impending consequences of disobedience. It's open to interpretation, but I think her imagining that she fulfilled the prophecy is her triumph over a world that is full of goodness and beauty that she will never attain, as it is robbed by the selfish who have very little or nothing to give.... hachooParamount.

see i tend to see it differently. I believe that the whole thing was real and that she was really supposed to go back. I mean remember at the beginning when they tell the story of the kings daughter. He wanted her back and I think that later on in life when he finally had the chance the king sent the fawn to bring her back to him. She just had to u know "leave her current life". But I dunno, I think thats the best part of films like this, everyone has their own insight and opinion of the film.

This was one of those films where you could really see it both ways I think. But, to believe that it was all real and not just in her head kind of makes it a little more special, IMO. Not too many films that can do that.

No argument from me, and I agree that's what's great about this type of film. But I will say that I came to my conclusion because when the Captain reaches Ofelia in the labyrinth at the end, he only sees Ofelia and not the fawn. There are other conclusions that can be drawn from this I'm sure, but this is mine.
