Kubrick is probably the only one I'm likely to to make a clean sweep of. It's a reasonable number of films (16) and for some odd reason I even really like owning the ones I'm not particularly crazy about (Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange).

I'm also likely to wind up with a fairly high percentage of George Lucas films which is ironic because I don't consider him a particularly good director. But between American Grafitti (his best work as either a writer or director), the Star Wars Saga and THX 1138 I'll pretty much nail all his features.

Directors like Billy Wilder and Alfred Hitchcock fall into a weird middle-ground. The each have things I really love (BW: Double Indemnity, The Apartment, Stalag Seventeen - AF: Notorious, Rope, Shadow of a Doubt, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, Rebecca) but a lot of their stuff falls into a 'sure, for five or so bucks' category and even more falls into 'well, if somebody gave it to me I suppose I'd keep it'. Kurosawa probably also belongs in this 'too many to commit to them all' category.

The Coen Brothers (have they legally changed each of their names to that yet?) and David Fincher might slip into a full collection mode at some point. They've each done enough things I would buy on their own merits to make a sizable dent and their styles are sufficiently...not unique, exactly...let's say personal that their other films are that much more attractive if only out of curiosity.

Wow! That's a huge list!

I'm painfully missing David Lean, Terrence Malick and Akira Kurosawa though!

Also, have you seen American Graffiti yet?
I love that movie!

They all interest me.

I have seen "American Graffitti" a couple of times, and just couldn't get into it. I can understand the themes Lucas went for, the nostalgia, and his bizzare use of sound and music, but I didn't find it entertaining at all. When it hits Blu-Ray, I might give it a rent and see if my opinion changes.

Terrence Malick should be on my list of directors to explore. I saw "The Thin Red Line" and found it...long... but otherwise I don't know any of his other movies.

Need to see more David Lean; I love "Lawrence of Arabia," "Dr Zhivago," and I plan on rewatching "Bridge on the River Kwai" sometime. I caught part of "A Passage to India" and it looked interesting.

I have about eight Kurosawa films ("Seven Samurai," "Ran," "Yojimbo," "Sanjuro," "Kagemusha," "Roshomon," "Throne of Blood," "Hidden Fortress") and they rock. If they put more on BD, I'll gladly get them, whether I've seen them or not.

Forgot to mention the Watchowskis; I enjoyed all their work so far (the "Matrix" saga, "Bound," and even "Speed Racer") and have them all!

The only two directors that I can think of that I would want EVERYTHING would be Tim Burton and James Cameron. So far, they have not done a movie that I would not watch repeatedly. Here are the ones that I have so far on blu-ray. I do have the rest on DVD for the time being.

Tim Burton
Alice in Wonderland
Batman
Batman Returns
Beetlejuice
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Sleepy Hollow
Sweeney Todd
Corpse Bride
The Nightmare Before Christmas
(yes, I know that he did not direct it but it is very much his movie)

James Cameron
Aliens
Avatar
Terminator
Terminator 2

Other directors that I plan to have MOST of their movies are with the movies that I have of theirs on blu-ray:

Ridley Scott
Alien
American Gangster
Black Hawk Down
Body of Lies
Gladiator
Kingdom of Heaven
Robin Hood

Planning on getting Blade Runner soon!

Tony Scott
Crimson Tide
Déjà vu
Enemy of the State
Man on Fire
Spy Game
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

Planning on getting Unstoppable day one as I loved it! Also, got to get Top Gun soon!

Ron Howard
Angels and Demons
Apollo 13
Cinderella Man
The Da Vinci Code
Frost/Nixon

Planning on getting A Beautiful Mind very soon. I wish that Ransom was available as that DVD was terrible.

James Cameron would be the only one that has never let me down.

Even Titanic is worthy to watch over and over. I know.... I know!

I like a lot of other directors however from a 'complete' movie list, none touch Cameron.

I would say Nolan is the next closest. Insomnia though was not my cup of tea.

Spielberg has fantastic movies however also a few duds... A.I. and The Color Purple come to mind.

I wanna get all the Quentin Tarantino movies that he directed. I think I'm only missing Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, and of course Kill Bill 3 (when it comes out )

Default Tim Burton movies

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan and I'd love to own all of his movies on Blu Ray BUT most of the reviewers give the PQ of his catalogue releases average scores, which is a shame..
some of these movies are, Sleepy Hollow, Beetlejuice, Planet of the Apes, Edward Scissorhands, etc..

so maybe they'll get a better releases in the future and that's when I'll buy them
