Agree with Sanjay - first suspect is the cable and 2nd one could be a HDMI setting on display or source.

If cable is not at fault, make sure you have forced full 1080p resolution from PS3 and your display should be set to native at 1080p and no scaling activated.

How can you tell difference between both versions, at the bollywoodbluray.com website, i seen same yash raj version and i was told by some one that they are selling new Sony version, any info will be helpful, i just don't want to buy old version accidentally when Sony version is available.

If that is your concern, your best bet will be to buy from rhythmhouse.in. They do ship internationally and are selling ONLY SONY version. Any Stores in India are not supposed to have Yashraj version for the 3 Kjo films- Rights issue. bollywodbluray on the pother hand is worldwide located store and so is capable for keeping/exporting/importing both versions.

You have my word. It is guaranteed that u ll get only Sony version if you buy from rhythmhouse. No room for confusion.

I watched this BluRay yesterday on an HD monitor. Audio is NOT that great...DD 5.1 sound that is. It's the same as the DVD just upmixed to 640... We didn't have a DTS setup, so I couldn't test that.

Black Levels & White levels are horrible...especially in dark scenes. This print is CROPPED ON ALL 4 SIDES!!! Many other issues as well...when you have close-ups of people talking...they are ALL BLURRY...it really sucked for me

Lastly...many scenes look FABULOUS. Many scenes have MUCH TOO MUCH digital grain When Rahul is driving Rohan to boarding school...they pass by the young girl Pooja...when watching the DVD I saw her ONLY waving goodbye. NOW I saw her TEARS! THAT made a huge impact on me. Little things like that come through in HD very nicely.

GOOF...in London when Rahul is driving Rohan to work...SRK is initially wearing a seatbelt...then he isn't LOL

By the way...SONY released Kal Ho Naa Ho...which was NOT a Karan Johar film.

Thread title needs to be amended. People should take care in what they want to talk about. Let the intelligence shine through people! IF you have it...thank you.

Watched KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI today...very very huge blunder at the end of the movie.

Subtitles were ATROCIOUS. Where did they find these people to do the subs? A boarding school for IQ's less than 80?!!! Forrest Gump could have done better...AND added chocolates to BOOT!

Again, cropped picture...OVERLY SHARPENED in some areas. MOST of the print was great. Sound is the same as DVD...upmixed to 640kbps DD5.1 AC3. Nothing special.
Same blurry faces in many places.

BUT MY BIG BEEF were the subtitles...and the last patch of the movie where the movie is unrecognisable. I had a better time watching the DVD!!! for THAT specific section when Anjali is at her house and Rahul finally comes to tell her that he loves her...you'll see...it is TERRIBLE.

Whoa!! ^Hold you horses both of you arguing here.

@Tafsir
Just an advice: U need to read all threads buddy. U just cant have your opinion influenced by just one blogger. Just because no one is counterarguing to Dead ripper doesnt mean he is 100% right. I am not a reviewer anyway but Mark my words, for KJo films, Sony is the bestversion out there yet. Do not buy Yashraj. For the convenience of friends like u , I bought both the versions and spent a whole day analysing and posted an detailed comparison thread on the main page- READ IT.

@Dead Rippers Society
No offence to you buddy but just to your limited ability to unserdstand the thread title.

Firstly, FYI, KJO film in this thread does not mean films directed by KJO. It just means Dharma Production films which could be produced by KJO as well. Hence Kal Ho na ho is a KJo film. (Gosh!! Why do i have to explain this dumb thing to someone i still donno.) "Let the intelligence shine through people! IF you have it...thank you." And by posting such a"mature" statement you think you have it? Grow up.

Secondly, the problems stated by you for K3g and K2H2 specifically about blurry images are common problems associsated with all older titles of SRK released by Yashraj as well as Sony because both are using same sources which are wrong sources in the firstplace. Click back on your browser and read my comparison thread of Yashraj v/s sony Blu rays of Kjo for more details.

U said, "for THAT specific section when Anjali is at her house and Rahul finally comes to tell her that he loves her...you'll see...it is TERRIBLE. " I completely agree with you on this. However there is a strong reason behind such an atrocious look- One, it is a SFX scene requiring the CG night starry sky in the background which is horribly done. Secondly, the films of that time had out of focus issues aplenty which only look worse on Blu ray- The HD transfer pulls Focussed and undfocussed shots in oposite extremes which is also the reason why u are able to see some shots 'overly sharpened'. Thirdly It looks better on DVD because DVD used the right source with the correct color temperature to manufacture while blu ray didnt. All blu rays of DTPH, Mohabbatein, K2H2, K3g, KHNH have used enhanced Digital sources that are not in the first place meant for blu ray transfer because they only serve to show an oversaturated beautiful and contrast blown up look to be boradcast on Satellite HDTV. When the director's vision itself is not present on the BDs, there is no point comparing DVD to Blu ray.

Hope that helps both of you.

HAD I known the subtitles would be terrible on this last disc, NOT to mention pretty bad on K3G (yet to find out for kal ho naa ho)...and then the problems with CROPPED PICTURE!!!...and then the problems with colour in many sections (sheesh, even an amateur encoder myself could have done better with my eyes closed), on top of the other sh*t...I would have NEVER have bought these discs.

That is MY opinion. YOU Anurag don't know me...ask around on zulm. MANY know me. I do my homework before I open my mouth.

When people ask me if I've seen the latest KJo film...they'd probably be referring to MY NAME IS KHAN...a KJo film for MANY MANY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD means the ones he has directed. NOT the ones he has produced. Don't come here on your high horse and pretend you are some authority on the matter. YOU are not. These are the FACTS.

PS...Karan Johar is NOT the only producer for KAL HO NAA HO. Therefore it is NOT technicaly "HIS" film. THAT IS FACT. He is ONE of the producers. HAD he been the ONLY producer your statement MIGHT have had some validity. As usual, as I've seen throughout your many posts here & on zulm, you have none NOW in my eyes. THESE are facts. Face them. Eat them. Enjoy them. I report the TRUTH. NOTHING BUT.
