I honestly can't imagine it being released in the US I could be wrong. This was one of many titles that forced me to purchase a region free player. It has been really beneficial.

I would recommend looking for Region free player web retailers there is one out of IL that is good. If you do end up buying a region free player pay close attention some listings almost sound like what you are looking for and I'm always surprised how many I've pulled up browsing and I thought for sure it was a BLU player because it was constantly stating 1080P but they meant for DVD upconversion and was just confusing. Make sure it plays both BLU and DVD you'll be fine.

There is a new release of The Persuaders! in Germany which has DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, according to a customer review on Amazon.de:

Update from 27/10/12: The Blu Ray Box has now arrived for me and therefore now concrete information. This is a sturdy slipcase, with a hinged inner life. The image and color scheme of the box is trimmed to match 70th Annual Pop Art. The FSC logo on the cardboard box, can be removed easily but a trace. The menu design is very well done. In "split screen" you can see some of the colored cutouts that are available on the inserted Blu Ray episodes. Aspect ratio is 4:3 (HD 1080p 24fps). Picture quality is stunning. Again, an amazing increase to very good image of the DVD boxes. Even smoother and clearer picture, rich color, hardly a Grieseln. Only if at the beginning of each episode, the "credits" are displayed, the image a little soft hail. Even scenes that were shot in the studio in front of a screen, for example, car trips fall), as on DVD, in the grade. Nevertheless, for more than 40 years old television series more than amazing. (Blu Ray and DVD scaled compared to the Player DENON DBP2012 on a "60 inch plasma"). The sound is presented here in DTS HD Master 2.0. (German and English). In the old publications's Dolby Digital 2.0 was. Have with those I have seen so far episodes and clips can not find any dull places, sibilance or asynchronous parts. Everything blended clearly. (destroyed shops with Napoleon, the killer festival, His Lordship Danny Wilde, nobility) The consequences can be seen for the first time in full. Scenes that were missing in all previous publications and have also never be synchronized, with original insert and German subtitles. Closed Caption is not it. If you play from the English version of a sequence, you can indeed select "Subtitle", but no texts are displayed. Also, some episodes, this audio commentaries are not provided, unfortunately, with subtitles. the enclosed informative 24-page booklet is in content in the booklet of the "Special Collector's Edition" equal. the "extras" can be found on each of the 7 Blu Rays, the consequences of which are located on the respective disk, as well as another "Extras" DVD fit. All the Extras "Special Collector's Edition" have been taken over and added many new ones.

Is this the British version or the completely altered German version of the show?

Will they ship to the US?

I would also be interested in trading in my DVD Region 2 Network Persuaders set.

Thanks!

Unfortunately this deal was over within a few hours; Play.com don't ship outside the UK.

Thanks. I saw that Play doesn't ship to the US. Bummer.
I'll probably try ebay or Amazon.Uk then.

I stand corrected they deliver to much of Europe but not the USA! But not for much longer as Play.com will become a marketplace site only at the end of the month.

Network DVD website actually has the cheapest price and they ship to the US.

I've tabled the idea of ordering the set at this time though.

Mainly due to having to figure out a region free blu ray player to be able to play the set.

Just more $ than I am willing to spend right now. Plus it would be for essentially 1 tv series.

I'll wait it out for a US blu ray release.

UFO is a great series (i prefer it to Space 1999); i'm old enough to remember it being on telly back in the early 70's, i was very very young! The DVD sets came out in the early 2000's but i've seen nothing about releasing on blu-ray.

Hi all,

I have a question related to an issue on the French boxset of The Persuaders.

I bought the boxset 1 month ago, and found out that these episodes are NOT up to the same PQ than the rest of the boxsets :

Five Miles To Midnight
To The Death, Baby
The Gold Napoleon
Take Seven
Chain of Events
Greensleeves
The Ozerov Inheritance
Someone Waiting
Nuisance Value

I've compared 2 things, on top of visually assessing that these episodes are clearly not up to what the Network / restorations made me expect :

- opening credits of "HD" episodes VS opening credits of "problematic" episodes.
- BD encode of the "problematic" episodes VS 720p copies from my uncle Charles (if you know what I mean).

Here are the said comparisons :

720p 1st, French BD from TF1 Video 2nd :

Opening credits from Angie Angie 1st, opening credits from Five Miles To Midnight 2nd :

What I would like to request if from anyone possessing the UK boxset to check the aforementioned "problematic" episodes and tell me if these episodes are looking "SD" (meaning : clearly not at the same level of definition that others episodes).

Of course, caps would be a wonderful plus to make my point to TF1, which have answered to my concerned e mail by

"The encodes are conform to what ITV sent us. ITV confirmed that the source masters are identical to what has been used for the UK Network set. All episodes have been restored, but the quality is variable from episode to episode, some shots can especially be looking less defined or with a coarser grain."

Which is of course BS, looking to what I found on the Internet as a comparison, but I would like to be sure (without having to buy the UK set just to show them ).

Thanks in advance to all who can help me !

I wish I could help. I have the Network UK DVD set, but not the blu ray one. I live in the US and was hoping that Network would've made the blu ray set region free so that I could import it. It's locked to Region B and I don't currently have the means to get a Region free blu ray player.

Hopefully there is a US version of the series on blu ray at some point though. I know they included at least one new extra on the blu ray set too.

Great show. One of my favorites.

So it seems the German bluray might be the better package. I live in the states and have a region free player. Does the German disc give the option of an English menu like the new Avengers series 4 bluray? I realize the DTS-HD audio is much better than 192 kbps DD.

According to one reviewer of the German set the average bitrate is 8-13 mbps. No thanks! I already have that on my Avengers season 5 set. I will take the Network bluray that runs at 16-20 mbps, thank you. It is about $15 cheaper as well.

I should've picked up the set when network had the sale. I noticed it is priced much higher on Amazon UK than the network uk site.
Is there any other promo codes that I can use for networks site?

I'm looking at getting a Sony bd player via 220 electronics after I get the set.

Is the German set region free ? ITV content on Bluray is rarely region free.
The German Bluray of UFO is locked to Region B . While it has no English menus the episode titles are in English on the disc labels and English audio is available.
As Network were the ones who instigated and at least part funded the Persuaders restoration it seems unlikely that they would be licenced to another company . If it had been left to ITV there would be no HD masters for The Persuaders as there isn't for the majority of the ITC shows
