Well until someone puts this into their Blu-Ray player and it says Stereo on their receiver, I'm not believing it.
To those who get it, please take a picture of it saying the sound codec on the receiver. I don't believe just what's on the cover since sometimes they have incorrect information. |

In another thread, a member who found The Crow: City Of Angels (also a Echo Bridge release) said that it had DTS-HD 2.0. The packaging also said "2.0 stereo".

There is no reason that the Echo Brigde should not have the DTS-HD 5.1 track! First Grindhouse with it's lossy soundtrack and now this. Even the non anamorphic DVD had 5.1 surround! Another epic fail from the Weinsteins. This movie has never had a decent release!

God, this whole situation is incredibly disappointing. I knew Echo Bridge wasn't the best distributor around and was only releasing crappy Asylum films, but I was truly hoping they'd at least try to have decent products for their share of the Miramax catalogue titles.
I knew for certain there weren't going to be any special features and I'd accepted that. All I wanted was for H20 to be released in full 1080p and have a lossless 5.1 mix. ¬¬ It makes no sense that a movie released in 1998 would go to high definition home video in lossy stereo. However, H20 is the only film of the batch I want and the only Halloween sequel I like. I have it pre-ordered (Amazon) for 11.49 and I'm at the point where I'll accept lossless 2.0, as long as it's lossless. I don't mind the terrible cover or the absence of extras, just give me a true high-def disc in the video/audio department. |

I just got back from BBY with both H20 and Crow: COA. I won't be home till about 4:30 CT, so I can give my thoughts on the AQ and PQ later today. They also had The Yards and From Dusk Till Dawn out. I wanted FDTD, but can't stomach that its a DTS-HD 2.0 audio mix.
I don't care for 2.0 audio, just should have given us the DD5.1 mixes and why bother going in to remaster the audio to a lesser quality mix. From a PQ standpoint, both Curse and H20 are not that great on DVD even upconverted so if these are of better quality great. I really hope at some point that Lionsgate gets their hands on the rest of the Miramax catalog that Echo Bridge is doing a good job of ruining at this point. Is the Alliance release in 2.35 or 1.78? It looks like all these Echo Bridge releases are 1.78 from looking at the back of all the releases they had out at BBY today. Last edited by CaptainZombie; 04-05-2011 at 05:32 PM. |
