I had some account problems, but finally mine has shipped as well. It's fun to see my Ghibli DVD's being successively replaced with these wonderful blu's.
Really wonder which one (or ones, hopefully) will be next...

You think they are going to announce them in August? Seems about the time Laputa/Yamadas were announced for December release last year.

I'm guessing they are going to announce a more epic tale for the next one. The first two I would say were epic in their storylines where the last three have been more personal. (Excluding Ponyo since that release was not in line with the current release packaging)

I'm waiting for my Whisper of the Heart blu from Yesasia. Expensive as hell! But it's worth it, it's my favourite film and that deserves the japanese edition!

At this point I don't care if its epic or not. I just want anything! We all deserve to be greedy about one thing in our lives.

Just as a poll, has anyone seen Mononoke on dvd that is not the miramax or Disney release and can comment on the colors? I can't stand what they did to the colors, its like it has been tinted blue throughout in the US and some of the euro releases. I hate watching these windowboxed fuzzy dvds with inaccurate colors.

I am anxiously awaiting Arrietty's US theatrical release in February 2012; it will be the first Studio Ghibli film I see in the theater! Hopefully the post-theatrical US Blu-ray release doesn't take as long as Ponyo's did, which I believe was 7 months.
After watching a subtitled DVD for months before Ponyo's US theatrical, it was great seeing it on the big screen but the English dubbing killed it for me. I took my little sister and brother to it and my sister was also annoyed by the dubbing.

The wait is killing me for a Blu-ray of Princess Mononoke.

I've got the Japanese DVD of Mononoke, and while I prefer the colours of it, it is marred by lots of EE, as can be seen here...

Really hoping for a blu of this soon as it is my favourite Ghibli film and I hate that my only choice of seeing it now is in such inferior quality...

I wonder what they were thinking when they did the Disney/Miramax release, must've thought the japanese was mastered at 9300k or something and so the whole thing shifted blue. In some scenes it doesn't look awful but to my eyes it just doesn't have the same look as Miyazaki's others. Its very clear based on the last comparison that they went a little overboard, they look way too blue skinned.

Just watched Arrietty. Liked it a lot, really glad I decided not to pass this one up as I was originally planning.

Based on those screenshots it looks like the colors all shifted slightly green in exactly the same way that Nausicaa and Laputa's did. You can tell reds and blues are slightly more subdued and flesh looks a little less rosy, which is probably most accurate to the original painted cels. On the whole it looks great, y'all are tempting me on this one.

So Kinokuniya just listed Ponyo Blu-ray again, scheduled to be released on 11/16. 7140yen. The specs on the disc looks exactly the same as the previous release (not the box-set but the regular edition). Except one of the description of the BD is "special package". Perhaps it'll match the current Ghibli collection? I'll update the post when I find out about more.

Specs:
- Audio: Japanese, French, Italian (looks like Japanese is the only lossless), and English (It contains North American version of the film, so I'm guessing it's included)
- Subs: Japanese, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Chinese

Special features/Bonus materials:
- Full North American version of the film
- Production sketch, theme song premiere, non-credit ending (long version), after recording, first day premiere, Interview with Miyazaki Hayao, Talk event (Suzuki X Tsuchiya), Nihon TV news ZERO spin off, Miyazaki Hayao quotes, Venezia International Film Festival clip, etc.
- Trailer
- Special package

Wow, 3 on the same day, that's going to be an expensive day. I guess we should have seen Tales From Earthsea coming with his next film coming out shortly.

All three movies (Howl's, Earthsea, and re-release of Ponyo) are in the database now. I'll update the first post when the covers get posted.
