Halloween > Halloween 4 > Halloween 6 > Halloween H20 > Halloween 2 > Halloween 5 > Halloween 8

Halloween Resurrection was just horrid.

To be perfectly honest, the only one of the Halloween flicks that is great is the first one. As much as I enjoy a few of the sequels I know that they are subpar. I enjoy Dean Cundy's cinematography in Halloween II, Carpenter and Alan Howarth's score, but I also hate the flick because introduces the bullshit family connection.

6 is 10 times better than Resurrection, but that's just my opinion of course. And I think it has the best cinematography out of all the sequels. The story is a mess in the theatrical cut, but the great action, intensity, and a ruthless purely evil Myers more than make up for it.

My rankings (not including Zombies):

H1
H4
H6 (Producers and Theatrical)
H2
H3
H20
H5

HResurrection

And here's my collection:

Wow. That's most of the reason I couldn't bear to even watch this atrocity

I'm definitely thinking about getting the US versions of H20 and Curse even though I have the Canadian import. The separate cases are very tempting, and it'd be nice to see some bonus features.

It was decent. Part of the problem is that the YouTube video looked and sounded awful. I missed a few scenes because I couldn't see or hear.

Not sure if this is a troll or not, but perhaps the best thing about Curse is the cinematography and the way they captured an atmosphere close to the original with it. The long shots, and tracking and panning shots were very well done and the use of close ups really put the viewer into the film, making the tension more palpable. The lighting and use of shadows was also very well done. The original Halloween, and parts 4 and VI were the three that really captured the tale about The Boogeyman coming out on Halloween in terms of their use of atmosphere. In term,s of the other films III is inapplicable in this particular case though it does capture an excellent Halloween atmosphere; II steered more so into a tale about Laurie and her relationship with The Shape/Michael; V had a Halloween feel at times, but was a jumbled mess; H:20 and Resurrection were in a whole different reality/timeline though I'd say Resurrection actually had a Halloween feel at times (scenes in and around the Myers house) with nice use of blue lighting and shadows but was even more of a mess than V, while H:20 only had any real semblance of Halloween atmosphere in the opening.

The problem with Curse was the story (that's including the un-doctored original script, the Producer's cut, etc., I actually like the more ambiguous feel of the theatrical cut as horror works best when dealing with the unknown) and the MTV influence with the guitars and excess flash cuts and such.

This post right here confirms how absurdly ridiculous this franchise has become. Is it REALLY an EIGHT film franchise? Look - I know they want to make some money on it and thats fine. But my goodness...they've really run this into the ground, havent they?

The first film set a great tone and is a bonafide classic. Then, from there, the films got stoopider and stoopider and less realistic and even stoopider. Then, they threw in a few more completely unrealistic things and sprinkled it with some stoopid flakes and a helping of liquid cheese just in case anyone was taking this seriously.

I mean - have fun with it strictly as a B-grade or maybe even D-grade horror but..I cant believe there 8 Halloween films or however many there are. Is nothing sacred?
