What kind of PQ upgrade are we talking here? I thought TV shows didn't get much improvement because of the cameras they use.
Friends was shot on film, so I think the upgrade will be quite significant.

People say that when we grow up, we kick at everything we've been told, we rebel against the world our parents worked so hard to bring us into, that part of growing of is kicking at the ties that bind. But I don't think that's why we kick at all. I think we kick when we find out that our parents don't know much more about the world than we do. They don't have all the answers. We rebel when we find out that they've been lying to us all along, that there isn't any Santa Claus at all.

Hmm...not really interested in the later seasons. Might get Season 1 and then the individual seasons as they release until around 5 or 6.

I just want How I Met Your Mother seasons to come on blu-ray already (besides S4) so any TV show on blu-ray is good news.

Love Friends, and would love a complete box set! I owned the complete DVD box set, but sold it off a little while back, after reading some news regarding an eventual Blu-ray release and in anticipation of one!

Really had to push the tv shows onto blu-ray. I'm seriously exhausted just thinking about it. Those reviews are going to be quite negative I predict.

Lossy audio for these releases, anyone? I hope not, but it may well be the case.

Probably my favourite comedy show, I could watch Friends repeatedly and never tire of it. Glad to hear it's coming to Blu-ray, hope it gets a UK release around the same time as the US. I'm definitely in for a complete Smallville set too. Was there anything in this survey about any cartoons coming to Blu? I remember last year Warner said they were planning to put Looney Tunes out on Blu-ray, I'd love to see that happen. I'd also like to see the original Thundercats on Blu, maybe to coincide with the release of the new series?

Yep - me too! I am really surprised that it has still not been released as that one has been ready for ages!

As much as I'm looking forward to this, and others (i.e. ER), the audio will probably be the let down, knowing WB's previous TV releases, meaning no TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, or even PCM. Just plain ol' Dolby Digital. Shame really.

Is this release just a matter of time (not talking years, but maybe within 12 months) or is this just a total rumor?

I have a decent offer on my SD sets, but I don't want to get rid of them if this turns out to be something that never comes out or is still years away from happening.

Thanks.

^ Surprised to see that comparison, and that looks like it is from an early season. Does that mean that all along, the 4:3 versions of Friends is a center extraction of a 16:9 frame as opposed to showing more on the top and bottom?

Is that 4:3 image from a DVD or a broadcast?

Yep the first episode. And seeing that comparison, I can't wait now. Must look pretty good on blu.

It's a rumor since October 2009.
