Please head on over to the The Australian/NZ Blu-ray Resource Thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/australia/...-info-etc.html

You'll find plenty of helpful info in there.

JBHifi is where I got my last AUS imports.
I've also used Movieplus, and had good experiences with both places.
(gotta admit I didn't realize the AUS bd was locked; thankfully no worries for me, but that's a real shame for region locked film fans for sure)

Thank you fellas.

Edit: Just bought it from JB Hifi which was the cheapest from the list's sites. It's the first time i double dip a blu-ray without receiving the first one, feels weird.

:P

Any idea if the Aus release is using a different scan?

I think there is a good chance that "Madmad Entertainment" have done there own scan but wouldn't automatically assume...

I wish all Blu-ray releases required the Director's approval. Please, Criterion, please release this someday soon.

Is this release really missing any type of captioning or subtitles? I haven't removed the shrinkwrap yet, but if that's the case I'll be bringing it back. My wife is hearing impaired, so without captioning it's nearly impossible for her to watch a movie without missing half the dialogue. I had assumed that including some sort of captioning was mandatory with Blu-rays, since every single release I've bought so far has had it in some form.

I think he was referring to the French release which has forced French subtitles (see post #8).

Ah, gotcha...although the reason I asked was because there's no mention of captioning/subtitles anywhere on the back cover. I thought it was just lazy design work at first, but now I'm a bit concerned that it might actually be missing. Don't suppose anyone can confirm that there is actually some sort of captioning?

Unfortunately there are no subtitles on the Echo Bridge Dead Man Blu-ray. You'll probably want to take that back

Review is up:

Dead Man Blu-ray Review

Personally, I think the 4/5 PQ rating is a bit generous. I'd give it a 3.5, maybe. Also, the review fails to mention the encoding error that pops up for a single frame during the first minute of the film. But since this isn't the first such error I've encountered, without any of them being mentioned in reviews, I'm not that surprised. Still, that fleeting anomaly aside, this looks really good by Echo Bridge standards. Sure, it could be much better, but for eight bucks, it's worth what I paid, and for Echo Bridge, it's suprisingly less than awful.

A single-frame encoding error...not touched on in the official blu-ray.com review?? Well I DO declare~! (fanning feverishly on the balcony of a late 19th century plantation home)

the reviewer see these lines from what I'm thinking the print was originally
pan& scanned for VHS and TV. you can read my review for other problems I saw in my review.

I love the guy who wrote a review saying my Sony TV has lines burned in...since all my other films don't have lines and the line on the right is further then the left line.

Did you have this on DVD? If so does it look better than the upconverted DVD in your opinion?

the review says the audio track is DTS-HD but my receiver is playing it back in Pro Logic. Are we sure this a DTS track?
