I disagree. I think it would be awesome to see what he does with his day off at this age. Most of those who loved the original movie were around the character's age at the time. Now, to have the same idea at a parallel time of our lives would be an amazing adventure.

In the original, the characters still were doing stuff beyond the realm of realistic possibility and were getting away with it. What's so hard to believe about a middle aged man doing the same thing? He'd still be doing stuff that we only wish we could do with our everyday lives at this stage of our "earthly development."

It could be testing the waters. Like I said, it was just last year that the sequel news surfaced with a script and everything. This coming around not too long after couldn't be entirely coincidental either.

I like to think that Election is the sequel to Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

This. John Hughes had a way about his directing that made his films so great. It will be tough to find someone who can match him, style wise.

I'm still not sure how to react to this movie tbh. I never really watched the first movie fully but i've heard enough to know its well liked by people and generally my feelings on sequels or remakes to classics after long periods of times are usually no, but look at the update to karate kid.

It didn't try to re-invent all the first movies scenes for the modern day, but simply took the essence of what it was and put in in a modern day story.

I think if the spirit of the first movie is retained in this sequel, it could be well received but i'll wait till i see it.

It's a Honda commercial directed by the guy who did The Hangover. Nothing to see here folks.

EXCLUSIVE: Ferris Bueller’s Mysterious Super Bowl Ad Is For Honda

There's a lot of buzz right now for the clip above showing Matthew Broderick appearing to be a grown-up Ferris Bueller (bow-bow-chik-chika-chika sound effect included) looking to skip work for another day off.

While everyone thinks it's a teaser for a sequel to the hit flick "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" only Jalopnik can tell you it's not. No, it's for Honda. And that's not all.

A source familiar with Honda's operations hinted to us earlier this year that the company was going to do a Ferris Bueller-style ad for the Super Bowl starring none other than Matthew Broderick.

The source also added that the spot was going to mimic much of the original film, except this time prominently featuring Hondas. The big jump the two valets do in Cameron's dad's Ferrari? We hear this time it's going to be a Honda CR-V.

Honda is pouring a lot of money into this ad and, according to our source, hired The Hangover writer/director Todd Phillips to put it all together.

I like the commercial

I think I would've hated if they really did make the sequel for this. Leave the classics alone, many sequels tend to ruin the original anyway.

In that CRV commercial he looks like he has the same make up artist as Bob Costas.

disappointed by the commercial but would still love to see a ferris bueller sequel. it would be interesting to see how he would enjoy a day off differently at this age compared to when he was in high school.
