Physical I like the fact that I can hold it in my hand and have something to show off.

I prefer physical media if possible. At least I have something of value that I may sell to someone else.

Physical media for me. I like the fact that someone can borrow my copy or I can go to a friends house and play it there.

So many people are hung up over having tangible product to hold in your hands to reassure you it's real or something. lol

Unless it's a woman or my manhood, I don't necessarily NEED to hold something in my hands to make me feel better about it.

Well, I like being able to display/look at my collection. While my primary concern over DLC is my likely inability to reaquire it down the road should my system die/crash/whatever long after the content is no longer supported, a secondary 'lesser' issue is that I just don't "feel" like I own DLC.

I do have a number of games that I've downloaded on my PS3 (games that aren't available on discs). But if someone were to ask me how many games I own for my PS3, I would feel weird counting them.

I do admit that it is nice not having to swap out a disc for every game, but I will happily take the inconvenience of discs if it better ensures long-term access to my content. That is my primary concern.

I will choose physical media over DLC pretty much anytime it is offered. A new example of this is the "Arcade Edition" upgrade to Super Street Fighter IV. If you have the regular SSF4 disc, you can download an upgrade for $15 to turn it into the arcade edition. But there is also a separate disc coming out with the full Arcade Edition version of the game on it, which I plan to eventually get. $40 for the disc is a bit more than I want to pay (I'll probably get it once I find it for under $30), but I'd rather pay a bit more and have the content on a disc.

Collectors like to see what they own and look at their collection, I do too.

I could have SMD, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, etc, all digitally but I prefer them physical format.

Smile ...or...

"Preferred Media: Physical or Digital?"

could be changed to

"Preferred sexual partner: Physical or Digital?"

and people would most likely vote the same as they did and post similar reasons as to why they prefer their choice.

(I voted physical because I like "tangibility")

I'm not even so concerned with tangibility so much as the "Servers down" phenomenon. The day I decided to buy Final Fantasy 4 for my PSP go was the day the servers went down recently.

I'm aware that that is an anomaly(and especially bad), but it's not like it's the first time I've had that happen over the years, even trying to download patches or just play on online servers.

The reason I have a go is because for a portable device I love having an armada of games at my fingertips. That doesn't apply at all to a home console, I have them either way.

I would love to have all digital. All they have to do is make 500TB laptop size HDD and make it affordable and then I would love to go all digital.

But since that won't happen for a long time, I choose physical media anyday.

I prefer physical, so I can buy, complete and then sell.

The only downside to digital for me is not being able to sell the game if I want to. Beyond that, I couldn't care less about having something in front of me. I have the game on my HDD; looking at the box doesn't do anything for me.

Many don't know that the FCC came out with a strategic broadband plan with a goal of 90% of the U.S. having access to cheap 100mb speed internet. They see it as vital for several reasons and view broadband access as an essential service like electricity. This includes rural areas. IF this occurs you will see physical media becoming less available. Companies would have access to most of the population and would not have to go through the added hassle and expense of printing and distributing physical media.

Because, of course, North America is the only market.

Digital Downloads, regardless of what companies would like, will only become popular if that's what people want. If they continue to buy physical media, then that's what the companies will produce. The consumer sets the trends, not the manufacturer.

And sometimes a little marketing does wonders!

Digital downloads are extremely popular. Ask NetFlix or Apple.

I still don't understand why games are priced the same in digital or physical form. The manufacturer saves so much production cost by not having to produce the disk and packaging. It's a joke they sell them for the exact same price.

I don't think Valve does, its why its so popular. Its Microsoft and Sony that charge the same...so far.
