If anyone has a mint condition slipcover for THE WAR OF THE ROSES (not the movie, too, just the slipcover) they'd be willing to part with, please PM me. I'm willing to buy; alternatively, I have a few BD and DVD slipcovers I can offer in trade.

Still no Hoffa review???

Is there some reason for that?

Looks good! I always thought this movie was hilarious, and a great motivator to not bother getting married .

this (War Of The Roses) had been out of stock everywhere for some months and going for high prices but Amazon seems to have dug up a limited stock and it's suddenly at $14 there right now

What is "this"? The thread title includes two movies.

Join the club. WOTR is the only 'Filmmaker Signature Series" title I need, and I want a copy with a slipcover. :-(

It was just War as far as I know, saw it in the OOP thread but by that time it was already back to secondary OOP prices.

I skipped Hoffa and somewhat regret it now. Even though I have the dvd, I'd like to have the upgrade next time I watch. Then again, that disc never got as cheap as Wall Street and War did. Got both of those with slips for under $10, but that was back around release time. A couple months ago there was a copy of Roses at a local used store for only $8 or so, but it had no slipcover or booklet, so I left it. Someone else picked it up since.

well WOTR U.S. disc didn't last long at that price, back up to $50+
but now I see a third party now has a few copies of the UK version for a low price (might not last long either as Amazon.uk has no copies of it in stock)

I've had Hoffa on the backburner for a long time. The only alternative is a German Blu-ray with unknown quality which is also OOP. Chance of re-release is pretty much nil at the moment.

I really lucked out with Hoffa. I had been looking for a used copy from third parties for a while and ended up finding one brand new copy at a vintage store near me back in May for $14.99. It was a blind buy.

I've got the German Blu-ray and it has a good picture quality and sound.

Hoffa really deserves more recognition. It's a great film, with many distinctive directorial decisions and touches.

Really hoping that War of the Roses gets a re-release soon. I attempted to order a copy but I now see it is OOP

I watched the German BD very recently and you're spot on.

Had to get it used as it's OOP there as well, but way cheaper than used prices on the US BD.

Really badly underrated movie, and Nicholson does a better job than Pacino as Hoffa IMO.

It is underrated. I like both Nicholson's and Pacino's performances in the role, but just prefer Nicholson's take slightly because he brings out a certain spikiness and ruthlessness a bit more.

Just found a mint condition copy of War of the Roses. I had it before but it got stolen with a bunch of Criterion and other discs. But happy to buy it again.

Maybe this will manifest it getting reissued again (preferably in 4K).

I love this film. Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner are so great together. I adored them in Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile but I’m glad they did something completely different from Stone for their third film together.

It's a real testament to the talent involved that they could muster such an entertaining film out of such a bleak topic.
