Speedy and Careful Cruise. All of the other ones werent TOO bad.

As for when I will start Going Commando I have no idea, but from what I read the series only gets better.
R & C is my only Platinum lol. Also, I think Going Commando may be my favorite of the series, have fun.

Playing Going COmmando right now.

I read that it was more difficult than RC1. So far I have to strongly disagree. I have blown through it with relative ease.

Of course, I am willing to take my time to grind out weapon upgrading and that helps tremendously.

I iwll mention that one very underappreciated aspect of the R&C is that even if you die, you keep all your XP, weapon XP and bolts. That way dying can be productive.

I wish more games would do this.

Woohoo!!

Just got my Going Commando platinum!!

I have been playing these non-stop. They are a blast!

Up Your Arsenal is supposedly the best and I will start that one shortly.

Seriously, if you consider yourself a gamer, you MUST play these. They hold REAL well. Much better than Jak and Daxter hold up IMO.

Got my Up Your Arsenal platinum!

Everyone says that is the best, but Ill have to give the edge to Going Commando for being better.

In Up Your Arsenal I just HATED the hacking mini games as well as the parts that involved communicating with the little fuzzies. I was also disappointed that they took out the space flying sequences. The rail grinding sequences were also sadly missing. It was platforming that I could actually tolerate.

The shooting was fun and some of the weapons were absolutely fantastic. The Qwack O - Ray was the best. If turning enemies into chickens and then laying exploding eggs isn't fun then I dont know that is.

In otherwords:

PLAY.

THESE.

GAMES!!!!

So you're saying I should pick up the whole collection? I've been dabbling in R&C HD that was in the 13 for 13 sale, and it's pretty much fun. I never had a PS2, so this is my first exposure to these games. The Jak and Daxter game was pretty good, too. One question I have is whether when converting to HD, they stretched proportionately and cut off the tops and bottoms to make the widescreen aspect ratio?

No the videos are left in their original aspect ratio. You should absolutely buy these. They hold up real well. The first one is the least good but it still plays fine. I never played the PS2 versions. I did see a friend play them on an occasion, but that's it.

The actual games plays just fine in widescreen. I have no idea if its cropped or sides added, but it works 100% well. The PS2 games had native widescreen support.

I do hope that Deadlocked comes pretty soon since I want to plat that game as well.

Come to think of it, Tools of Destruction could use a trophy patch!

Okay, I'm right at the Chairman Krek boss battle at the end. He's pretty formidable. Did you all beat this guy without the R.Y.N.O.? I've only about 50k bolts, so it would take some time to farm the 100k more I would need for that weapon, and I've already gone back to get all the gold bolts and skill points, so there is no other reason to replay chapters. 50k bolts would be enough to keep well stocked in ammo through the PDA, though. I hate these multi-act boss battles without checkpoints.

The careful cruise skill point was a bear, too. The sense of depth (virtual 3rd dimension) was inconsistent in that area.

Farm bolts and get the RYNO. There is an infinite bolt glitch that I used. The best part is that you can just leave your PS3 on while you have a beer or something.

Yes, its "cheating" but having the RYNO makes you the ultimate badass! However, considering the hell you must have went through to get the skill points, I'd say the game owes you one!

I actually tried it a bunch more times with standard gear, and got really, really close. When he starts spamming you with blue laser shots, it's all over. There are some Youtube madmen who can beat him without the RYNO and without taking damage. But, I got so bored of doing the first two sequences over and over again I had to try the bolt exploit. I'm not sure if it would not have taken less time to beat Krek than it took to get that to work. The DS3 is now sitting with a real bolt, a long lag bolt, resting its little head on the . It will take a long time to get to 150k. Must take hours for those who use it to get to 1M. I think better to wait to NG+ when you get double bolts.

Every so often someone brings up how games are easier than they used to be, motivation being to increase accessibility, and how it bothers some fanatics. It's parts of games like this that I don't think have really gotten easier, just less tedious. More recent games would probably have checkpoints in the boss battle. That does not make the activity harder, just less repetitive, perhaps more forgiving. It's maddening sometimes to have to perform the same initial 90% of a task, the part you've proven you can do, over and over and over and over again, just to get to the last 10%, where you are still trying to figure out the best way. It's a non-fun part of gaming, until of course you actually complete the goal, at which point it becomes strangely satisfying.

He is pathetically easy with the RYNO. Use the infinite bolt exploit to get enough bolts for the RYNO. Save the bolt farming for challenge mode when you get tons of bolts.

Out of all the HD collections I have played I will also add that these games hold up the best BY FAR.

Many of the frustrating things that were present in the other HD collections are not present here.

I also love that when you die you still keep your bolts AND XP. Thats a VERY nice feature.

Same here. I'm a huge fans of the PS3 HD remasters and the Ratchet & Clank is my favorite. The graphics look outstanding Other collections like Jak & Daxter and Prince of Persia Trilogy are solid, but still seemed more dated than Ratchet & Clank.

Yes, it was silly easy. I calculated it would have taken 28 hours to collect a million bolts. When I got back, there were around 200k. It's kind of cheat, but not really. It would only have taken time to collect the bolts. It's no more of a cheat than spending real money to buy in-game currency from PSN or the publisher, at least the way I see it. The ethics of gaming. Sometimes interesting. 1 million bolts is a ridiculous number of bolts to expect you to collect. If I were the trophy designer for this game, I would not have that one, but I would have made you beat the boss without the RYNO or gold weapons. That would be worthy of a trophy.

You can't get gold weapons until the 2nd playthrough though.

Also on challenge mode bolts accumulate so much quicker though and getting 1 millions is nowhere near as daunting as it seems.

The only thing between me and platinum now is the 1 million bolts. Finished NG+ with 280k in inventory. I would guess I need 200k or less to get to a million, but that's a guess. It takes a little more than 500k to buy all the weapons, gadgets and upgrades, I think. I read on PS3 trophies, I think, that if you make a new save file, your bolt count resets. I'm not sure if this is true, but I hope it only applies to your NG+ game save, because I was rotating three save files, which is my usual practice. I was hoping to get this finished before tomorrow, but I'm not sure now.

Worst case you can set up your PS3 for the bolt glitch overnight.

The new save file thing is BS. I got it just fine and had 3 saves.

Just got the platinum for Up Your Arsenal yesterday, really enjoyed this compilation since I never played them originally on PS2.

Yep. This was my first time playing them too!

Like I said previously the R&C games hold up much better than most PS2 games and I had a heckuva good time playing them.

I had originally planned to play them sparingly, but after I beat and platted the first game I just kept playing and got all 3 platinums two weeks later!
