In episode 1, at the end of chapter 7 (scene w/ Ned, Catelyn, and Maester Luwin discussing Lysa's letter), there's a shot of Ned in the center/foreground and the other two over each shoulder in the background. At this point the playback pauses for a moment and skips ahead by like 20 seconds or so.
I'm playing this back on the PS3 and just went through a software update. Is anyone else having this issue or any other playback issues in general? |

Disc 1 of Game of Thrones freezes my Sony BDP-S580 player. No picture, none of the buttons work.
I either have to unplug the player or hold down the power button for 10+ seconds to get it to reboot. I update the firmware yesterday before watching Game of Thrones. I've tried resetting to factory settings, turning off the internet connection, and so far no dice. ![]() The other discs seem to work fine. Anyone else? Anyone have a solution? |

Been hearing problems about this set since yesterday. Mine just got here not long ago by UPS so decided to test each disc. No problem on my Sony 360, each disc load in about 40-45 seconds.

On the Sony support site, other users had a similar problem with the Boardwalk Empire blu-rays. Sony suggested they return the "defective" blu-rays to HBO for replacement - which they did - and guess what!?!?! Same problem with the new discs. Eventually a firmware update fixed the issue.
I sent an email to Sony but I'm sure the first thing they will suggest is to send the blu-rays back. Sigh. |

No updates except that Sony says they are looking into the problem.
What's frustrating about this issue is that it is so totally random. Sometimes the discs work, sometimes they freeze. On a related side note, I've only seen the tree loading graphic once on close to 30 loadings of the discs. Strange. |

all of you who said your ps3 plays it fine are lucky. The game of thrones blu ray doesn't even show up as an option to play in mine. Other blu rays seem to work fine.
This sucks |

This is my first BD purchase. Episode 5 will not play. It tells me to insert disk 2 then my player locks up and I have to unplug it. My players firmware is up to date. Now I have to return this pile of shit. I had a feeling BD was just a rip off. If anyone tells me they are firing up Bittorrent I will wish them luck. HBO, go **** yourself, cable is a rip-off and I refuse.

![]() Or...perhaps you can help to better explain your problem, your hardware, etc. My first blu-ray player wouldn't play anything at all. I didn't give up, go online and start swearing like a little baby. I found a solution like a normal, sane person. And I couldn't be better off for it. Your call. My situation doesn't apply to Game of Thrones. I bought the new Strike Back season 1 set (produced by HBO Home Entertainment) and all my discs that I have tried playing lock up and freeze the player. I have a Sony BDP S 270. I have a different Sony BD player in an upstairs bed room that manages to play the disc fine, but this one locks up and then I am unable to power it off or hit eject. I have to literally unplug it and then I have eject.
Is this a firmware issue? My player hasn't needed a firmware update in about 6-7 months. ![]() |

I have the S470, which is part of the same 70 series of Sony BDPlayers that you have Djariya, and I have found that the USB drive fix, mentioned on this forum, worked perfect for me (oops, see update). The thumb drive I used was just a blank 1GB one that came as a dedicated key for a Cisco router. I formatted it to FAT32 and stuck it in the USB port that is along the back of my Sony blu-ray player. I checked the manual online from Sony for your S270 and you do also have a USB port, it is far over to the right as you look at the back of your player. Put in a blank USB thumb drive, then wait a minute, then put in your disc of Game of Thrones and it should go right into playing just fine. There will still be about a 30 second to 1 minute black space that shows up while the disc loads initial information, so be patient.
Update: even though that USB drive fix worked for me, it has not been consistently working (not repeatable over and over). So here is the other tip (mentioned on this forum) that has been working occasionally - but not totally 100% - but is much more annoying to perform. If you are at the point where the Sony player is locked tight, the remote buttons will not turn it off and will not eject – unplug your player, and plug it back in (you do not have to count to 10 or anything like rebooting a computer). As the player gets cranking up keep pressing the blue HOME button on the Sony remote until the home tree (letter T looking menu) pops up (this stops the disc from being run for the moment. Now highlight the BDROM icon and press correct button to select and start the disc. Immediately start pressing the Top Menu button over and over (just like you might do if you were pressing F8 over and over on a computer to get into the Windows startup menu) and keep doing that even after you get a message that "This operation currently prohibited for this disc" continuing until the red "Warning: don’t pirate" message comes up. This method did work even without the USB drive in the back – which is good if you don’t have one around. BTW, yes, I did apply all available firmware and software updates from Sony, and I keep a permanent Ethernet cable connection to the player. Folks have been commenting on this issue since the BD version of GoT came out in April 2012, so no, Sony has not yet addressed it in any of the current firmware updates as of this date (Aug 12, 2012). Anyone have a Sony BD S390 that has had any lockup issues playing Game of Thrones? (...Or any other blu-ray titles) Even though I can get around the problems with my S470 locking up with the above kludges, it would be nice to nip this in the bud and just upgrade to the newer Sony player... IF in fact that would prove to be an improvement! And the old one can be a backup or go to a friend...
Thoughts anyone? |
