I'm particulary dissapointed that these two are taking so long, but given Cameron, it's not surprising.

I would be glad with The Abyss, it's the only movie of James Cameron I have on DVD and that I actually like.

Could it be that transfers are already finished?
It says :
"Sources tell us that the hope is to do a big promotion with the titles sometime next year. Why the wait? Cameron is a pretty busy guy these days, so these things take time"
What things?Promotions?He didn't mention nothing about supervising transfers,etc...
From what i've heard,BDs of 'True Lies' and 'The Abyss' were initially planned for later this year,but Cameron blew it with this diving stuff.
And i'm with JoeDeM on this one :we shouldn't take this for granted.This year is diving,next year it could be Avatar sequels or exploring the moon.Things could change in a minute,especially in a year

It's about friggin' time! Since it's taking so long there'll be no excuse for these not to get top-notch treatment for the release. I hope they include the extended version of The Abyss also.

I think its more then worth double dipping. You should just buy the DVD for cheap right now and get the BD on release

No it wasn't, and non anamorphic look horrible up converted to 1080p.

That's what I was afraid of. It's the best reason to wait another year for a proper BD release in the correct AR.

Hoping it has both cuts, though. Also, I wouldn't worry about the transfer, I doubt James Cameron would let out a mediocre looking disc. Can't wait.

I saw "The Abyss" for the first time a few months ago, and aside from the language and some brief nudity, I really enjoyed it (the ending was a shocker, though). I wouldn't mind seeing a Blu-Ray release.

The Abyss and True Lies both urgently need a blu-ray release, simply because of no anamorphic version available, especially The Abyss which has no anamorphic version anywhere in the world.
