OK, Friday when a sale was announced on J&R, I bought:
Gone in 60 Seconds Enemy of the State Yesterday morning on amazon, I bought: Day After Tomorrow This morning on amazon, I bought: *Both* Pirates of the Carribean movies The Wild Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy BTW, none of the Friday or Sunday purchases have yet shown up as dings on my Debit account. And my DAT puchase yesterday doesn't even show it shipping from amazon until this coming Friday (because I always click off Free shipping, it takes a few extra days for amazon now to ship titles to me, but at least it will count as either last week's sale or this week's sale). Also, I have preordered 2001 and ordered Swordfish along with it. Sometimes, these kinds of preorders show up as early as the previous Friday morning--as dings on my Debit account--and amazon sometimes lets me know that they've shipped a pre-order over the previous weekend (to the announce date of Oct 23, in this case), so might these purchases also show up as *this week's purchases* if amazon does that before next Sunday (Oct 21)? -Greg |

Hi,
.Seems pretty clear to me that the BoGoF sales are a response to the Transformers. .I waited till today to buy. .I'm glad they made buying this week so much fun. .I think the sale had to start early so they could get it in Sunday's papers. .No one should be faulted for buying Blu Rays no matter what time or day. It's the funnest thing to do. If you bought early, congrats. Consider buying another if you like. =brian |

An even better way to help is to make sure everyone and anyone knows about these deals. I've been posting them on forums all over the place lately, I recommend you do the same, and tell people. Spread the word, because that will make al lthe difference.
Link people to this page https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=19855 and show the post (it's about half way down) that lists all the deals going on. This is extremely important. |

No matter what we do, we are not going to affect the total number of sales of Transformers (even if Blu win the week). However, we can increase total sales for other studios, which I think would be of much greater value to Warner than weekly sales figures... My 2c |

Maintaining a 2 - 1 sales ratio, during HD DUD's big attraction sends the message loud and clear, to Warner, Universal and Paramount. It also is having an effect at demoralizing the HD DUD acolytes who seem pretty depressed, over at AVS today. If we could push our numbers up, over the 70% mark, for the rest of the buying season, things may change after Christmas. We could have an end to this format war and peace would reign in the HDM world.

As do I. When I am out and I see a Blu ray movie I want, I'm picking it up. I don't stand there and think to myself "oh wait, it's the wrong day". I have 82 Blu ray movies so far and feel I am doing more than my part and will likely be around 100 by the end of this month.

Oy ve! Don't friggin remind me. No. 1 pick, here we come.
Both my teams: Rams & Bears, lost yesterday. I wish I were a Pats fan-- they look ridiculous. Just ordered Planet Earth on Amazon to fuel the fire. Will be hitting Best Buy later today. At least I can support ONE winning team this year. ![]() Go Blu! |

I am worried, since we don't have the promotions next week, and no titles releasing next week, hd dvd has a good chance to win next week. Everyone wallets will be dried out this week, and nothing left for next. If transformers only ships 65%, then 35% will probably ship next week. This gives huge opportunity for them to win next week. Heck the 35% holdout might be Paramount/Toshiba's doing on purpose, just for this purpose. It would probably be brilliant.
