I'll have to check my copy, but I thought it was region locked.

EDIT: Disc is reported as region free.

Just tested mine and it plays Region B fine. Didn't check C, but I suspect the blu-ray database report is correct.

Discotek have had stock issues with their distributor over the past year and their website doesn’t state it’s OOP.

Recently picked up the Japanese disc and found that it has the 3rd pilot film not on any other release. All pilots are in 1080p24 with LPCM 2.0 audio. The movie itself is the same cut as the Japanese DVD not the Japanese or US theatrical cuts.

Huh.. so the german BD is the best version available with both cuts, has the best transfer as well, the problem is that it is not English friendly..

Should I consider getting the German disc (if I can find it non expensive)? Because maybe I can attach English audio and subs from elsewhere, even if it's work I gotta do.

There's a french BD that just came out, I wonder how it fares?

Can anyone let me know if the German blu-ray has a widescreen version of the 1984 pilot film? I was browsing blu-ray.com, and it looks like on the back of the box it is included as an extra. I recently acquired the Discotek blu-ray, and while the 1984 film is included, it's in SD and full screen.

The three pilot films are currently only on the Japanese BD. There's a French Blu-ray (limited to 1000 units) coming out soon from Spectrum Films. Specs mention pilot film without specifying what exactly is included.

Judging by the runtime, Amazon has the uncut version.

If someone here watches it, I'd like to know if the captions match the English dub, or if they seem more like a translation of the Japanese script; neither the DVD nor the Blu-ray include the former as a subtitle option.
