Ah, now if the contrast issues are gone, then that's something and I might pick one up.

All right Suspiria fans who are still undecided about this Blu-Ray from Umbrella...

I'm only 30 minutes into it, and I can say, this Blu-Ray is the ****ing tits. The transfer is awesome.. no freaking damn about it man.

I'll see if I have time to take some screencaps tomorrow once I have watched it again

****ing worth it mate. There are a couple of scenes that look bad, one being when the blind guy is hanging out in a pub, but the rest are awesome.. i'm looking forward to saving some screenshots tomorrow.

I'll try and time them up with the ones here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=52 and the ones from the UK review.

Thank you LordCrumb. I would love some screenshots, esp of the 'red' colour bits that turned out to be pink on our UK version.

Hmmm interesting, I think it might be that 2007 print lol.. you would never guess.. I just did a quick comparison to the final shot of her walking out https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=52

and it looks the same.. but I mean its a flash of lightening in that very frame that causes it.

While I wouldn't be surprised if the video is a straight port of one of the other BDs, each of the four previous BDs has its own transfer, so this could just as easily be yet another. Here's a handy comparison I found recently comparing those four BD releases:

https://sites.google.com/site/suspir...Japanese-Vs-UK

LordCrumb, if you could go about matching those grabs then that would be amazing.

Edit: On a side note I lean to the Japanese for overall image quality (though I like the Italian as well), whereas the French seems to have colors most accurate to the original look. The UK seems to have the most contrast boosting (bad) AND a weird gamma issue with blacks that are both "milky" AND crushed (bad). Assuming the caps are taken accurately.

Oh its definitely a port of one of those, Umbrella wouldn't have done a new scan.

Here are a couple so far to match those ones:

http://www.imagebam.com/image/fc8702216346782

It's not the UK transfer if my captures are anything to go by.. Flipping through them in a Tab format, I can't actually match up which release the Aus one is from... the reds in the Aus release are slightly better than the others (going on the red curtain).

I don't mean a new scan per se, just potential color/contrast fiddling, kind of like how Australia quietly released the best version of The Leopard awhile back. All the Suspiria BDs come from the 2007 restoration/scan - just transfer tweaks.

Wow, thanks for those. Looks a lot better than the UK version, so I'll definitely pick one up.

It's weird. Assuming the process you used hasn't changed anything...The first looks like the UK to me in color and contrast, the second looks the most like Japan, and the third looks like the UK in contrast boost (bad) but not in color - shade of red closer to the French/Italian (good). This may in fact be a fifth version. The many faces of Suspiria...

Edit: closer look...look like maybe the UK transfer was the baseline (contrast), and they dialed the colors in closer the the FR/IT? Skin tones seem a tad less green/yellow than the FR and less pink than JP/UK?

OK looking at those, it is taken from same transfer as the UK. One of the changes was the contrast in that first screen cap. Would like to see a few more caps from this release.

The best spot to check is the finale with Jessica Harper running through the house. There is a shot where she looks back in the hallway, she is now drenched in red in the new transfer.

In this case, they still look the same:

I have to say though, in this transfers defense, it still blows the DVDs away.
