Or get your stuff right away.

It really comes down to which one you value more. I'm not a prime member, but I do see why people use it.

Hey! Someone doesn't understand how shipping works with online retailers. When Amazon Prime says 2-day shipping, that means that the two-day shipping starts the minute it leaves Amazon's fulfillment center (Amazon has multiple fulfillment centers around the country).

Shipping times do not start when you place your order. Amazon's 2-day shipping begins the moment Amazon sends your order to USPS for shipping. You really should read up on Amazon's help files:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...nodeId=1161252

2-Day Domestic: The buyer should receive the order within 48 hours after shipment.
1-Day Domestic: The buyer should receive the order within 24 hours after shipment.

Shipping times begin when USPS picks up your order for delivery into the USPS system.

And, I'm not defending Amazon for no reason. Amazon has a very good reputation. It's not their fault that some customers don't understand the way their 2-day shipping works. That much is obvious because you assumed that 2-day shipping starts when you place your order.

In the end, it's your choice. You can either order from Amazon, or find some other retailer to order from. But, I would suggest researching the retailer you're ordering from instead of just jumping in head-first. Always do your research. I know I did, before I ordered from Amazon the first time. I'm not trying to be smart here, but it's not Amazon's fault that a customer placing an order with them does not know how their service works.

It took me all of 30 seconds to find that information out, and I did that through Google. Oh, and someone commented on the remark I made about how retailers process your order.

When you order from an online retailer, you really are not paying for shipping, you're paying for that retailer to speed up the processing on your order. When you choose "free shipping", that retailer is not going to process your order first, they process those orders where the customer has actually "paid" for the shipping. Once those orders are completed for shipping, the orders with free shipping are then prepared. Bear in mind that Amazon Prime and overnight shipping orders have a tendency to get processed first.

Remember, you get what you pay for. If you want your order processed faster, then choose a faster delivery option. If you rather have free shipping, then expect some kind of wait. Amazon "supersaver" free shipping will take between 5-7 shipping days. If you choose to pay for shipping, you can get your order between 3-5 days. Amazon Prime has a 2 day shipping method and then there's overnight delivery.

It's always your choice, in the end, if you're not satisfied with Amazon, then find another online retailer. But, Amazon does have an excellent track record with customer service and it's definitely better than Walmart, Target and Best Buy.

I've used Merchant Sellers too but I'm generally highly skeptical on using them ... I've only ordered a few items through AMK.

Amazon

So far, Amazon has been good to me. I have received all my orders within 6 business days or less using their free shipping promo ($25 qualified items). This is the only online retailer that I trust and order from. Even though I have gotten 2 items damaged in transit, both times Amazon has refunded my card and allowed me to keep the order. Although, they only cost about $6-$7. Getting free shipping, no sales tax and I earn Reward Points for additional discounts off of my purchases. I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Amazon is the best!

P.S. The only thing that concerns me is the emails that Amazon sends to me. They know what I add and remove from my Shopping Cart. It's like they are watching me!

But that's the thing. Either way, you will get your item eventually. Be patient and you can save $79 a year. It's not like Prime members are getting better items than the Super Saver people. We're both getting the same thing! Just one is getting it sooner! Why would you pay to get it sooner? Waiting a couple of weeks isn't going to make a difference.

Yes, they do.

It might. Depends on the situation.

Unless you only have a week to live or if you're ordering for something important (like a birthday gift), then I can understand where two-day shipping is necessary. But other than that, waiting longer is not going to kill you.

it's 2 days from when the item is avail....not necessarily 2 days from when u place the order.

sometimes things are out of stock....but they always give you an estimated delivery date based on when they expect to get the item back in stock.

I just think that it's too easy for someone to post about their experience with a particular retailer because not many people will post all of the related facts regarding their experience.

When I have a particularly bad experience with a retailer, it doesn't matter if it's a physical retailer or if its online, there are a number of avenues you can employ to express your concern, and I've tried all of these and they have worked in getting the retailer to address the problem:
  • If your experience happened at a physical store/location, ask to speak with the store manager. If you have a relationship with any of the floor managers, sometimes they can expedite your concern, but I would ask to speak to the store manager, and not simply a supervisor or a team leader (they are usually ineffective and never do anything about your concern)
  • Log into that retailers website and file a complaint through their contact information. This generally has a hit or miss, depending on how that retailer deals with customer service complaints. Target and Best Buy seem to be horrible at this. Amazon and Walmart seem to be better at addressing concerns raised by their customers.
  • When I filed my complaint through Walmart's website, and this I give the company high marks for, one of their managers from the store which I experienced the problems with, called me at home, apologized for the problem and offered me a 50% discount on the item I was purchasing (a DVD boxed set valued at $20-$25).
  • When the above doesn't work, and you won't find this contact information on the retailer's website, do some detailed research by using a search engine to find the contact information for the executive management of that retailer. I had some great results when I received no response from Best Buy through their website "contact" form but after some searching, I discovered the email addresses for the executive officers of Best Buy Corporate and not only did they escalate the problem to their management staff through their corporate website but they also addressed my problem very quickly, apologized for the problem and sent me a $35 gift card for my troubles.
  • If the above doesn't help, and I would highly recommend not using this option unless it's a serious issue, contact the state attorney general where you live. I ran into a problem where Target had advertised a Blu-ray in one of their weekly ads, "I Am Number Four" on Blu-ray for $15. But, when I tried to purchase one, I was informed by store employees and customer service that even though it was in their ad, they had no intention of receiving any for sale. I was informed to order it through their website. After getting no response from their online "contact" form and no response when I sent an email to Target corporate, I decided to contact the state attorney general where I live. Because this involved "false and misleading advertisement" as well as "bait and switch" tactics (oh yeah, I forgot, Target tried to pull the scam, "we won't be getting any Blu-ray copies in but we'll substitute the DVD version"), which is a violation of state and Federal law (the attorney general contacted Target Corporate on this) they responded immediately to the Michigan State Attorney General's office. They claimed to have sent me a letter, of which I had not received, that's a long story in itself, but I ended up receiving a copy of the letter in a packet from the state attorney general's office (businesses can be seriously fined for violating "advertising laws" and in using these "bait and witch tactics"; each state may be different in how they employ these laws), as well as a $20 gift card from Target, apologizing for the mistake.

Just remember, you have avenues you can use when dealing with inadequate customer service. You just need to be aware that you don't have to sit by and let it go. Even with online retailers, you still have these avenues open to you. Just be aware of the laws in your state, realize what complaint you have, and make your argument with that retailer (or the legal representatives for consumers in your state) and they'll take the matter from there.

Always remember, you're dealing with professionals so leave the anger and contempt out of your request, that's how I've always gotten very good results.
