Default Don't Tell Mom That the Babysitters Dead

Where the heck is this movie? This is one of the few movies that I still own on DVD that I'd love to ugprade to Blu-ray or UHD.

While not AS classic, I put it up there with Adventures in Babysitting and the like. It was a staple on HBO/Showtime back then and I'd watch it every time it came on.

Interesting, the site shows this cover. I'd assume it's a mock up but it looks real:

Either Shout or Arrow is going to get this if they can. If they can't, it's either ownership issues or music issues.

Definitely seems like a Shout release candidate.

It has an HD master so I don't know why this has never been released on Blu-ray before.

So they market their catalog to cable and streaming, but not disc.

Maybe they need to borrow from petty cash to get it on disc? Lol

I think I bought that bootleg Blu-ray from eCrater 3 years ago.
Hopefully with that remake coming out this week they’ll decided to do a proper release in the future.

Had no idea there was a remake.

The label that is releasing Big Top Pee-wee said they are also interested in Don't Tell Mom as its one of their favorite movies.

Maybe I live in a bubble but I found this movie to be a pretty big deal as an 80s/90s kid and I'm shocked that someone like Shout or Kino hasn't picked it up yet.

The remake doesn’t look good to be honest, they should’ve just released the original in 4k Blu-ray.
And when are they releasing Big Top Pee Wee? That’s one of my childhood favorites along with Don’t Tell Mom babysitter dead.
I still have both in dvd but I also bought both on digital HD.

The bootleg I got it actually doesn’t look bad, it comes with some special features and a reversible artwork, quality looks better than on picture.

You would think with the remake coming out Warner would at least do an archive BD or at least license it out to a boutique label (it seems GraveFace Films wants it badly).

Save $15+ on a movie ticket, the remake blows.

While I don’t know everything about every film, I know that in at least 90% of the cases, it would cost less and pay off more to bring out a quality copy of the original than it would to create a sequel/prequel/midquel/reboot/remake of poor value.

When those unwanted retreads fail, they act like there’s no interest in the original. I have no clue why they do this. Is Hollywood really getting dumber?

For some reason, I’m reminded of a scene in the notoriously absent-on-Blu film The Alamo, when in response to a surrender demand, one character takes his lit cigar and lights the fuse of a cannon in pride and defiance. In real life, the cannon kicked back and broke the actor’s foot, and he spent the rest of the shoot barely able to move. It seems like that’s what’s going on with DTMTBD and many other franchises. They’re making more films because they can, and then it royally blows up in their faces every time.
