TWBA is 100% real. it was screened at Cannes it is playing in Philly in June.

Cool

So screenings at Fright Fest, the biggest UK horror film festival, numerous screenings worldwide including in the states and you still think its fake.
Well I watched it last year at the Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City and rest assured it is real, heck go on you tube and type in fright fest the cabal cut for numerous videos about it.
http://www.occupymidian.com/
Maybe the above website with a full list of previous screenings is fake also?
Some people !!

There hasn't been any official announcement, though, so I'm not getting my hopes up. This is just secondhand news dated almost two months ago from someone on Facebook.

Bliss and heaven. I hope somebody in the UK obtains the rights to release this on Blu-ray. I read the novel not long ago and I bought the film on VHS last week.

Well, it's kind of early for any sort of official announcement. I doubt there will be any updates regarding this release from Warner(?) until July/August.

Updated news on "Nightbreed" from the Occupy Midian Facebook page..

Here's what Russell had to say when I started asking some questions..

"..we are talking with a company.. everything is moving forward slowly. We have Michael Plumides helping us move through the maze. Mark Miller is talking with Morgan Creek."

Then Michael Plumides replied..

"Russell, you said you didn't expect anything before 2014, remember? Well, it looks like the distribution deal is moving forward. Our distributors are presently at Cannes but we will resume talks when they return - we probably will not make the announcement until the Fall. Also we have a channel very interested in the TV show. Stay tuned."

"And in answer to the question, "The Cabal Cut" is a separate film all together. Warner has no control over this film - the added footage makes it a completely different product."

What tv show is he speaking of? Is the distribution deal moving forward on Cabal Cut or said show?

That's pretty interesting about WB not being involved with this release. Makes it sound like we're getting a bootleg.

I'm no attorney but does adding footage to a movie really void Warner's control over the rights? That sounds like something that has all sorts of shady implications sure to ignite some sort of annoying legal battle.

[Well, it WAS Star Wars until I added in 7 minutes of home made lightsaber sparring, inserted a new subplot starring myself talking to a broom, and placed random barnyard animal noises over the space battles so now it's technically not Star Wars but a "diferent product" that I get to distribute and control independent of Lucas/Disney]

Edit: I am aware of issues, like with Swamp Thing or Black Sabbath, where studios own rights to one cut but not the other. ...but I'm skeptical in the case of Nightbreed that a separate entity would own the rights to a legendary lost cut.

How is that interesting? And no, it doesn't mean a bootleg.

Morgan Creek originally produced the film, and 20th Century Fox distributed it. If WB has the video rights to the theatrical cut, then an alternate version would easily revert back to the original production company.

It must have something to do with Morgan Creek being the owner of the film, Warner distributed the theatrical version under a home video distribution agreement the two companies had at the time. Either Warners distribution rights to the film have lapsed, or the original agrement states it was only for the theatrical cut. (Although they probably had first look/refusal for the new version)

Oliver Stone did something similar with Natural Born Killers in the late 90's, Warner didn't want to release his director's cut (Years later they eventually did) so Regency was allowed to find another distributor in Pioneer/Vidmark home video.

Um, because WB has the rights to the theatrical cut? They even reissued the movie recently (as a DVD-R in 2011).

Obviously, this release won't have the theatrical version on it, unless WB is involved.

Why would a release of the director's cut need the truncated theatrical cut on it, which is vastly inferior and been pretty much disowned by everyone involved?

Because the theatrical cut is the version fans have been appreciating for over twenty years?
