They are - Zavvi are releasing an alternate Star Trek 2009 steelbook with different artwork, as well as this one. We just don't know what the alternate is because the artwork hasn't been released yet.

OH, NO THEY DIDN'T!

Just when I got myself a copy last week, I read tonight that they are re-releasing the same thing. Life is pretty funny sometimes. I got myself the Future Shop one because I am Canadian and also I prefer it over the Play.com one (Like there's a huge difference).

If Zavvi is smart, they will release it without the blue banner. Seperating themselves from the early versions and also I think others would agree that steelbooks now should be without it...

If Zavvi is releasing a variant, I would be interested in that for sure.

Awesome! Pity it doesn't come with the 2nd disc. I've got the 1 disc DVD, the 1 disc (DE steel) BD. Might buy this anyway though

I'm talking about collecting steelbooks in general. Real collectors don't sell what they've got to make a profit of any kind. If at any point you complain about "the value of [insert whatever it is here] dropping," or you intend to sell a collectible for more than you paid for it, you are doing it for all of the wrong reasons... unless you own a physical retail outlet that isn't also your home.

I suppose this is good for those who wanted an original copy and sucks for those who went the lengths to obtain one. It does sort of strip some value and appreciation for its rarity. Don't get me wrong, I still cherish mine (absolutely love the movie by the way). But it will be annoying, knowing that there's re-issued ones out there... I kind of hope the interior work is blank, at least that would be a one-up.

I would not be surprised if the other version coming out, looks like this:

That would be good although there's a picture of the artwork already

. I think it may be blu ray banner free and a slightly different picture. Similar to what happen with play's iron man release.

I also called that they would re release this at turn of the year. I won't lie I'm gutted.

There is going to be 2, one that looks similar to the previous Play.com (not a Zavvi exclusive as far as Im aware) one and a Zavvi exclusive with different artwork, yet to be finalised
