I saw this with my little sister and she loved it for the most part. She was scared when she saw the witch flying around. Mila kunis did a great job at keeping her up all night. Now shes afraid of going to disney world because she found out the witch is in one of the rides there.

Oz: The Great and Powerful is not really a movie for really young kids. I have a 12 year old brother and i took him to see this movie and he really enjoyed it and had no problems watching it. But, if a kid who is about 6 or 7 or younger or even a tad bit older then that, is taken to the movie theater to see this movie, they might not want to stay in a movie theater and watch a movie like this. This is more of a movie for teens and young adults.

Question Question

Any idea as to when the BD covers for the 2D BD release and 3D BD release of Oz: The Great and Powerful will be posted on their webpages here on blu-ray.com, considering that it now has a BD release date for Tuesday June 11th 2013 ?

The 1939 film was also a bit rough on the wee ones. Just sayin'...

Exclamation Oz: The Great and Powerful's BD release date

Oz: The Great and Powerful's BD release date has been removed from its webpage here on blu-ray.com . But it appears as if its BD release is in fact Tuesday June 11th 2013. Here's a website i found that has its BD release date listed as Tuesday June 11th 2013
> http://www.hdmoviesource.com/Oz-The-...ful-p/7369.htm .

Why do I have a feeling this will be a bare bones edition though. It's seems like it's a rush. Disney will wait till later in the year for a good version.

It won't be a bare bones version. Remember when Disney's 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie was released on BD, 3 months after its theatrical release that had special features ? Well, it seems like this will be the same situation, where they will release a regular BD release of Oz: The Great and Powerful on BD 3 months after its theatrical release.

That is good point. I'm just used to the studios screwing people and making them double dip. Guess I'm just a bid jaded.

Oh it will be, or more specifically, Disney is going to continue the pattern they've done for the past few years.. The Blu-Ray/DVD combo will be gimped while the more expensive 4-Disc set will have all the essentials.

Yes, i know what you mean about studios making us double dipping on the BD releases sometimes. I hate when that ends up happening but at least the BD release of the movie coming out on Tuesday June 11th, will be a regular BD release of the movie with special features and not a bare bones BD ! .

Yes, Exactly. But that movie was a flop, where as this movie isn't a flop. Its theatrical run in theaters isn't over yet.

True. Flop or not, it wouldn't benefit Disney to release another version months later. It will be the usual Blu+DVD and the 3DBlu+Blu+DVD+DC combo packs.

Nowadays it doesn't matter how well a movie does, the studios get the home video releases out on store shelves at 3-4 months after the theatrical premier.

I'm fine with a barebones release, I don't usually use special features anyway. June 11, that is sooner than I was expecting.
