Is there a tentative release date for the Criterion release?

It was in the new years hint twice now. Eraserhead was last year as well. I've been waiting on the Criterion release because I'm hoping they will have a commentary with Cronenberg. Even though the steelbook has been tempting.

I'd buy the steelbook if it wasn't locked to Region B, but knowing that there's a Criterion release in the pipeline... I'm totally willing to wait.

Just viewed scanners 2
Never seen the first one

Thought it was a fun watch. No with all the bad reviews and even worse reviews for Scanners 3

Criterion's Scanners should be very good. Maybe its a good thing I viewed the 2nd one first huh lol...I am afraid to view the 3rd one though...

Is it worth my 90 minutes?
from the cover and text it seems like a scanner battle between armys but from the plot on the back of the case it seems as its just brother vs sister

Crazy as I sound, Scanners 3 is my favorite of the trilogy. It's the most fun one, and has a sexy, dominant female villain. 2 was pretty forgettable. I found 1 pretty boring, too. For a "good" movie, it's not very thought provoking and the plot was unengaging. Too be fair, I don't remember much about it, other than the annoyingly bad acting of the lead character. But I only saw it maybe 6 months ago, so it didn't leave much of an impression on me. Maybe the concept was more novel at the time. I was looking forward to picking up the Criterion, but after watching the actual film, I have to cross it off my list.

I see this is on sale right now and so I bumped into this old thread to see if the movies were any good (I've got the original in HD, but never saw the sequels).

But then I read the comments, which are mostly not about the movies, but about the plastic case they come in. Frankly, it blows my mind that people place FAR more values on a cheap plastic disc case than the actual movie!!!! WTF!??

I transfer ALL my movies to my server hard drive (where it can feed the whole house and transfer to portable devices quickly, etc.) and THROW THE CASES INTO STORAGE (I'd throw them in the garbage can if I didn't need them for legal reasons and/or backup) since they take up a LOT of space for what is just digital data. KODI gives a far better on-screen presentation for the movie than a plastic case anyway. Are some of you movie fans or plastic case artwork fans?

As far as this franchise goes, all I want now are the two Scanner Cop films on BD. The first one is a little meh but the second one is quite good.

I wouldn't mind if they made another Scanner film actually. Doesn't have to be a reboot, some connection to the earlier films would be nice.

I prefer plastic cases over server hard drives any day.

Scanner Cop 2 is the real Scanners 3. A wonderful movie. I love it.

Patrick Kilpatrick does a great job in it as the villain. The late Daniel Quinn seems to be more accustomed to his role as a cop with scanner powers and the scanner gore is beefed up considerably as well.

Dammit, now I have to go watch Scanners 2 and Scanner Cop 2...

That said, I did finally score a decently priced copy of the OOP Canadian DVD of "Scanners: The Showdown" on eBay, completing my Scanners collection for the foreseeable feature.

Is it normal for Scanners 3 to have no music over the end credits?
