Cinemark last year, showed a DCP of 'Mary Poppins' on the XD screens nationwide - which of course I missed it - did anyone attend those? I'm thinking it wasn't a sneak peak of the restoration work... or was it?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact it was 10 years ago that I bought the 40th Anniversary Edition. Times flies. I kinda like the artwork. I think they should put the chimney sweeps at the bottom of the covert like they did with the 40th Anniversary. But that's just my opinion. It just doesn't look final to me. Also not to nitpick more but what are the stars floating around Mary?

Definitely a must have for me!
Hope to see 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea soon! From what I recall of the OTA HD broadcast it looked pretty good.

Disney's created and has shown the restoration theatrically via a new DCP - which also got screened last year by Cinemark - and wow! did it look great.

I assume you're referring to 20,000 League Under the Sea, that is fantastic news! It's one of my all time favorite Disney live action films.

Edit: I'm glad you mentioned it, I checked and it will be airing in HD this Saturday at 6am.

HD Net Movies(HDNM), ch.561 for Directv. I had it DVRed on a previous box, but it develeoped an annoying audio problem and I lost all my saved shows.
I'll have to be on the lookout for Mary Poppins HD OTA.

December 10th! Wow! That came fast! Like Holy Sh*t fast! The artwork sucks. Looks more like something you'd see for the movie "Chicago". Bright lights/big city sort of thing. It is what it is, I really only care about the restoration/transfer. Let's hope it fairs well.

Sooner than I thought. This is my absolute favorite film of all time, and once I have it, I'll consider my classic blu-ray collection complete. I've seen the restoration, though I haven't heard the sound mix yet. No one will be disappointed with the video, hopefully the bonus features and audio won't disappoint. The aspect ratio also seems to have been fixed based on the version I saw. The last version was 1.66:1, which is the right ratio, but it was cropped incorrectly on all four sides.

It may not be what you are used to seeing with Mary Poppins, but this artwork (the title treatment and subtle skyline especially) harken back to the film's original movie poster, and I personally kinda dig the nod:

Very excited! I love the cover design. They are finally using the original, classic logo. Mary's flying figure over the simple background is bold and iconic. I think it's a classy treatment.
