So see you in 2015 to agree on the next thing!
I vaguely remember that.
2015 might be a bit too ambitious. Lets say, 2020, lol?

We could've jumped the gun on this one, myself included. I've phoned 3 HMV stores and all 3 stores state there's nothing on their systems for a steelbook release, just the 2D/3D Blu-ray and the DVD. If this is the case then I must apologise to everyone in advance. I really do hope a steelbook shows up though, maybe their systems will be updated in the next day or so with new info!

I'll give the OP at HDN the benefit of the doubt. He said news would break in 48 hours so we might hear something tomorrow. If it hasn't been formally announced then it makes sense that HMV stores haven't got it on their system yet.

Are you 3d haters gonna keep on with this? Its been 4 years now since 3d returned to the marketplace? Still no sign of it vanishing. Think you have to admit that its here to stay.

Are you saying that because of the active voices in this thread bemoaning 3D that it is the sign that 3D is a dying format?

If so, I hate to break it to you, but the only people nowadays who are vocal about 3D are the insufferable haters. Those who have come to accept 3D as an enjoyable form of entertainment simply don't care what other think of it and don't vocalize themselves. I know of at least 15 people at work who used to always complain about 3D and they have, in the last year to year and a half, bought a new TV that has 3D tech built in because they were the best quality 2D sets on the market. And, in doing so, of course they got curious about the 3D aspect of the TV. They all have changed their song on the subject quite drastically. They all now seek 3D content first and settle for 2D should the 3D not be available.

So, 3D is definitely is here to stay. More people are taking advantage of it everyday whether you hear from them or not.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but to me it seems like 3D has declined in popularity instead of increasing, which is why a lot of people claim it is a fad or a gimmick.

A lot of people say you need to try 3D TV or you don't know what you are talking about. I have and it still hurts my head, eyes and feels uncomfortable all round. Adds absolutely nothing to the film or whatever I am watching. That's just me though.
This thread is going a little off topic, but I just wanted to mention that the BBC don't really do a lot of 3D

If Sky cut back on 3D, then we know that the demand is down. I personally love 3D, when it's done right, and I always opt for the 3D release. Even if it's not included in the steelbook, then I'll buy both releases

For the record I like 3D just not the tacked on bullshit that some places pump out.

I actually hope this isnt true as i dont want to pay an extra $18 for shipping
Not to mention the fact do you think paramount is going to give a major movie exclusive like this to hmv fresh out of admin with no online? With a 4k print run and approx 140 stores each store would have to move around 28 copies.

My small local store had around 20 copies of the Die Hard 5 steelbook on release day. They have since shifted over half assuming they have had no new stock. Larger stores would shift much more.

For something like Star Trek will easy shift that number through HMV stores.
