I have most of his films from Hong Kong, upconverts and all, because it's really the only way to get the full movies. I just wish that they were full HD masters. Maybe eventually...But for now, I'm happy to at least have them on blu.
Nice, i don't have any on Blu, have most on dvd and will wait until proper HD versions become available, the new soundtracks put me off as well, with the new sound fx etc

Even though the HK releases are upscales, they are still a bit better than their dvd counterpart. Colors are reproduced better and they have less pixelating.

Both are based on the SD master, but as you can see, the Blu-ray version is just a bit better - not much, but just a bit, so they are my favored versions.

Hi, did you see my earlier post:

We probably never gonna see a Blu-ray release, but at least the list would be "complete" (almost all other lists/filmographies omit this movie, wink wink drees, you still haven't added this to your website ).
Why there are so many JC filmographies that omit this film? Anyone?

I will include it in the next update.

I basically took the filmography from Jackie Chan's own website and removed some movies that I thought wouldn't really fit in his true filmography and some movies I omitted on purpose.

Altogether I removed some movies that featured a very small cameo role when the movie wasn't really in Jackie's style, ie. The Twins Effect 1/2, Supercop 2, his voice acting roles and some of his earlier stunt work, etc.

Supercop 2/Project S doesnt really count as a Jackie movie IMO, as he's only in a cameo role - in drag no less Its really Michelle Yeoh's movie.

Still,
[Show spoiler]I do remember the end of Project S is quite a touching moment when Michelle isnt able to get to her boyfriend/lover in time

Currently have the HK versions of Young Master, Dragons Forever and the recent Fearless Hyena release. I want Wheels on Meals next, does anyone know which is better? the JP or HK release? I know the JP release has an english dub but.. I just wanted some clarification

P.S no original Drunken Master on blu is a travesty

As a huge jackie chan fan, i cant bring myself to buy upscales. It took me a long time to complete my J.C dvd collection with the uncut/original audio/best quality version of the films. I have only upgraded his U.S films and a few of the recent HK movies. Seems like a waste buying upscales.

The Japanese release by Paramount is the one to go for as it not only contains the original English dub but also has a SD version (Special Feature) which contains outtakes at the end! this version was only availible on Laserdisc in Japan! The main feature film is an upscale like the Kam & Ronson release. A thing worthing noting is that the Japanese releases by Paramount don't have English subtitles!

I think we will have a long wait for these to be released in proper HD! I have most of the Japanese releases by Paramount, they do offer some great special features and some contain rare cuts of the films, usually Japanese Laserdisc cuts!

Which Jackie Chan themesong do you guys like the most? I just love the theme from Police Story III, but can't decide which is better; cantonese or mandarin...

The upscales look way better than their DVD counterpart. I know they aren't really HD, but they look good.

Police Story theme is my favourite, followed by Armour of God (High Upon High) which i believe is only played over the english dub version of the film.

Like I postulated in another thread, I think that the niche market for JC movies is just too small. Maybe HKL and others fall because of this. Buying/licensing true HD (restored) masters maybe just too expensive.

hmmm i am still very happy with my dvds. my player upscales pretty good so i don't see myself purchasing unless true HD transfers crop up. So looks like i could be waiting forever also aren't these U.S releases the butchered versions? i like my JC films uncut and in their original language
