Kingdom of Heaven looks great also.

No reason for BHD to be on there, it is phenomenal looking to this day. I just re-watched it for the 10th time or so a week or so ago when we got our latest (and largest) HDTV to date and it looks outstanding.

Dark City (have the German import, but it's just the theatrical cut)
Big Lebowski (have the Italian import on order)
Time Bandits (have the new Arrow steelbook, but haven't watched it yet)
Blues Brothers (no lossless audio? really?)
The Star Trek movies 3-6 (and give us the other cut of 1 while you're at it, so I can lose my old DVD)
The Thing, Dark Knight, Ice Storm > I would gladly double- (triple-) dip on those if better transfers came out.

You could always get the HD DVD of The Thing. Also, just so people know the HD DVD of The Big Lebowski is the same transfer as the IT BD.

Believe it or not, I have a laserdisc player, but no HD-DVD.

I have several HD DVDs and 2 HD DVD players. There are still many HD DVDs that are not available on BD. Then there many HD DVDs that look better than their BD counterparts such as The Thing, Downfall, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, U-571, The Pianist, and Apollo 13.

Yeah, I just can't see finding a place in my equipment rack for the few I'd watch... my list of "only available on laserdisc" is probably longer...

Oh, yeah, I did pick up the Australian version of American Psycho; they're pretty easy to find on ebay for anyone looking.

Would also love to see a better release of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

How does the audio of the Italian bd compare to the audio of the HD DVD? I've thought of importing the Italian disc but the few discs that I would have combined into the order have already received English friendly releases. It's been ages since I last watched my HD DVD so I don't recall the presentation .

Couldn't tell you on the audio. All I know is the PQ is virtually identical.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to give the HD DVD a spin the next time I watch this.

Actually, I think it looks pretty good! There will always be some people who're going to find fault with the transfer (just to have something to complain about) regardless how good video may look to others.

I'm judging by the screenshots, not what some people claim it to be. I'm not buying any more processed crap, no matter how "carefully" it's been done or how much I like the movie. I recently got rid of some essential films because of the quality of the transfers. I think Pet Sematary is probably my worst looking transfer now, and that's as bad as I'll allow it to get.

You can't judge an entire movie just from looking at a few screenshots on the internet! Screenshots are nothing but still photos... For instance: people or anything will look different in person, from a still image of them or it. You have to see the blu-ray in person to see what the video actually look like on your own HDTV, not from screenshots.

It doesn't help when there's crap like frozen grain, but the edge enhancement or DNR is not going to go away "in person".

I feel the same. As soon as I can get my hands on the UK edition of Pan's Labyrinth, that disgusting DNR'd mess released in the states is getting tossed into the garbage.

Well after holding off from buying Dumb and Dumber, I finally did it. I hope Warner bros. give this film a new transfer to coincide with the sequel.
