The only 2 Aniperplexing sets I own are the $50 set of Baccano and the now defunct Read Or Die bluray box which I got for $100 at the 2012 RS 13 days of xmas sale. I really liked Madoka Magica but wasn't going to pay a stupidly high price and got the UK Manga bluray release instead.

Well, I'm very happy with my Durarara!! Blu-ray Lunch Box set, and I just got word from TRSI that my AoA Blu-ray release of Bakemonogatari finally shipped today. I ordered that one way back on March 6th, so it was on backorder for almost a full month... I wanted to get that one before it's gone, and since I have the two Nekomongatari White and Black Blu-rays pre-ordered... Just gotta get Nise- yet...

I thought it was great but the anime series diverts from the manga in the middle of it buts its still entertaining.

The movie is also cool.

I hope they do a remake a la fma brotherhood whenever it finishes.

Thanks alvarez! I'm considering picking up those AoA boxes. Everything I read says it's nothing new but it seems universally praised for being done well. I can dig that. There's only so many original ideas to go around

I haven't found anywhere cheaper than Rightstuf - and they sell it at the AoA retail price. I got both my Durarara!! Lunch box and Bakemongatari LE set at the AoA $149.99 retail price. Everyone else seems to mark the price up from there... But I thought AoA only allows a handful of distributors to sell their product to begin with - isn't that right?

Actually Rightstuf doesn't charge full MSRP on Aniplex releases. But yes they only let a few companies release them. Even on Amazon, it's only being sold by other companies, but not directly through Amazon.

NIS America releases are similar too.

Ok - I didn't mean MSRP, but the retail store price AoA posts on their website - which actually is Rightstuf's price, because that's where you are linked to when you click the Buy Now button on their site...

I really wish they sold on Amazon and not all 3rd party. I really want the SoA sets but $90 each is a bit much.
Between anime, SB's, and slipcover I'm being drained...

Even if it were being sold by Amazon themselves, I doubt it would make that much of a difference. Like I don't think we will start seeing a $90 release for like $45. But I think Amazon can't sell it because of the restrictions since Amazon can ship overseas on movies and tv shows to Japan.

You mean SAO right? There's region B locked releases for much cheaper on Amazon.co.uk. pretty much every AoA release is significantly cheaper if purchased from the UK through a different licensor.

Of course you will need to have a region-free Blu-ray player to play the discs... and the Region B versions are usually just basic amaray releases - you don't get all the LE goodness of the US releases, so if you're into that extra stuff then you're going to have to pay the price...

I've never really been one for limited editions unless it's something that I really really want. Best investment I've made is my Insignia player for region locked titles.

Yep, I was thinking about going that route as it is cheaper.
But like Frey said, you don't all the little bonus stuff. But again sometimes you want the basic without all the frills.
I want the US release with the commentary and other movie related stuff and not all the other stuff like the cards. But alas...not going to happen. I'll start saving then.

It sucks because $45 - $50 is easier to sallow then $90+. haha
Shame that Rightstuf and AoA are the only places to buy it. Oh well maybe in the future sometime.

I've been enjoying Blue Exorcist on Toonami and Neon Alley. But can't comment on the Blu-rays.

Aniplex of America announced on Saturday that it will release an imported version of the Persona 3 The Movie #1 Spring of Birth film on Blu-ray Disc on May 20. Aniplex will release the film in a collector's edition and a standard edition.

Both editions will include both the 90-minute original theatrical version and the 97-minute director's cut version of the film with English subtitles. Both editions will also include trailers, commercials, and audio commentary, although the bonus video extras will not include English subtitles.

The collector's edition will also include the original soundtrack CD (which will include the theme song "More Than One Heart" by Yumi Kawamura), box art by character designer and animation director Keisuke Watabe, newly-illustrated cover art, a 48-page booklet (with an English translation side booklet), 10 "Super P3 Stickers" and four key art illustration cards.

The collector's edition retails for US$99.98, but Aniplex is selling it at a sales price of US$79.98. The standard edition retails for US$74.98, but Aniplex is selling it at a sales price of US$59.98. Pre-orders for the film start on April 7.

The film ships in Japan on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on May 14.

The film, which is the first of two planned films, adapts Atlus' Persona 3 PlayStation 2 game. In the game's story, there is a hidden time known as the "Dark Hour" that exists between one day and the next when all movement in the town stops. During this time, terrible creatures called Shadows roam, and a group of high school students in the city of Iwatodai are drawn into the Dark Hour to fight these creatures and explore the mysterious tower of Tartarus. This group uses weapons called Evokers that are used to summon Personas.

Noriaki Akitaya (three Bakuman. series) directed the film at AIC A.S.T.A. with Seiji Kishi (Persona 4 The Animation, Devil Survivor 2 The Animation, Angel Beats!) supervising. Jun Kumagai (Aura: Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai, episodes of Persona 4 The Animation) wrote the screenplay, and Keisuke Watabe (Crest of the Stars, Banner of the Stars) served as character designer and animation director. Shoji Meguro (Persona 4 The Animation) composed the music.

The second film, Persona 3 The Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream, is slated to open in Japan on June 7.
