Looks like a limited edition set. Wish they were making a 3D Bluray of Back To The Future.

3D would be useless for a 30 year old movie that wasn't made like that IMO.
A new 4K transfer would be more welcome actually.

I don't believe it would. I believe it would look stunning.

Zemeckis, last I heard, did not want to convert these to 3D. On the other hand, he really wants Who Framed Roger Rabbit converted and he wanted it released to coincide with the sequel he was hoping to make. I doubt either will happen, though...

Age is irrelevant if the cinematography lends itself well to a 3D conversion eg Wizard of Oz, Predator, Jurassic Park and Titanic.
An UltraHD Blu-ray release would be most welcome.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit would be great with 3D IMO. Would suit the popping-out-of-the-screen 3D well.

Yes it is. 30 years ago, 3D wasn't the same as nowadays and most of the movies were made for 2D screenings only. Converting a movie to the new 3D standard includes CG manipulations which I certainly don't want to see.
Look at the fence distortion on the 3D JP BD: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...ess=#vergleich

To me, 3D conversion is pointless. Then people will buy 48 fps converted movies

What do you think is different now as opposed to the 3D films of the 1980s or indeed the 1950s? Although not sure how relevant that is to converting a 2D film to 3D.

This is just one mans opinion of course but I'm all for 3D if the film is shot that way. I don't need any post conversion though. I don't need 3D so I'm fine with 2D for the stuff that hasn't been shot that way.

What's the need to be picky with minor details such as how a fence looks?

Who cares?

3D is just a bit of fun.

Matter of opinion I guess. Remember, I first said "IMO" and "to me"

However, it is not pointless, and can look just as good as native 3-D, because all 3-D is is two offset images. Doesn't matter who you get there. Even parts of Avatar were post-converted but no one noticed.

CG manipulations are only done when an object is distracting.

Well, it worked for Wizard of Oz, and that movie's only 80 years old.

Again, matter of opinion. 3D in general is pointless to my eyes end of story.
My point is that most people here want a 30th Anniversary release with new masters because the previous ones were one hell of a joke.

So I was checking out the daily ratings by the BBFC. It looks like an upcoming kid's DVD Lily the Unicorn has a trailer for 'Back to the Future Trilogy 30th Anniversary.' Thought it was worth mentioning.

So, we don't know yet if that upcoming 30th anniversary is a repackage or a remaster?
