I'll be tempted to replace the HK release, based on price.

We are presenting 3-D and 2-D versions of both the Japanese and International Cuts, along with a separate disc comprised of copious extras - quite the package for anime fans! We recognize that this is unusual territory for us, but we were offered the opportunity because of our relationship with Toei Animation - (TT co-founder Brian Jamieson was Toei's marketing consultant for the worldwide release of the film) - and consequently we have been allowed to release the most comprehensive package for this movie on blu-ray anywhere in the world. We are proud to be associated with it, and hope there's at least a few of you that will take pleasure in some truly dazzling visuals - James Cameron, who has enthusiastically endorsed the project, considers Aramaki to be one of the greatest anime directors out there -- hop on board and try it -- you never know, you might like it!"
Thanks for the info.
From the sound of that, this will be a US release 3 disc set, for 12/2015?

For those who saw this, was the movie entertaining in your opinion?
I wonder if it has strong 3D? I didn't see a post about the 3D yet.

The 3D was pretty good, but the 3D doesn't matter if the movie is a total bore, which I found this to be.

Thanks Atomik.
Over the years, I noticed Japanese Anime styled movies (also the CGI ones like Appleseed), even though the trailers look action packed, tend to have very slow pacing with few exceptions; thanks for the heads up.

It's not really the pacing, it's just too bloody long. It feels like it's going to end 2 or 3 times and then it just keeps going and going and it's like OMG is this thing ever going to end!

It feels longer than Gone With the Wind.....

Thanks. They probably had a lot of scenes that looked good and then didn't want to cut them, resulting in an extended director's version.
The movie looks great, so if the 3D is medium 3D layering or better, I'll consider it.

Great news, will be waiting for december Haven't seen the 3D but the 2D was great. Such eyecandy and that goes a long way in my book.

Hope it mirrors the JP limited box that looks freaking amazing.

This is very true Zivouhr and its one of the reasons i haven't picked up the movie here in the UK yet. It's still quite expensive and animation is never my favourite so i'm waiting for a suitable price drop. I'm also weary of being tricked by the trailer into thinking this is action packed, i've been burned in the past.

I got this and it stayed on my shelf unwatched for months as I heard it was super slow paced with lots of talking. When I finally watched it I was very pleasantly surprised (that said I went in with low expectations). Yes there is lots of dialogue but not to the point where it becomes boring, lots of cool space action and beautiful, sometimes jaw-dropping CGI. The 3D is great too. Even though it's animation I see it as a sci-fi movie first.

Yeah i remember you saying you did enjoy it. I'm just not really overly fond on the anime style characters and am weary as to whether i will enjoy the story. To date i've never enjoyed any Japanese animation. The trailer looks great but i'll still wait for a big price drop.

I got this one, it is quite reasonably priced, £9. It's not local it's an import, but apparently the disc is exactly the same.

Thanks.
Final Fantasy Spirits Within from Square Studios, although slow paced, had a decent story and the dialog got to the point in each scene, so that was good.
The Final Fantasy VII Advent Children movie, I was lost with the story, characters and dialog though and the movie went over my head. The movie looks great otherwise.
Akira, Demon Hunter; also movies that I loved the art style and animation, but the story lines didn't seem as focused as they could be. I'd have to watch them again to be sure.
Appleseed, Steamboy, also movies I couldn't get into as amazing as the art work is.
I am a big fan of Voltron the series though, even if the story was retold and recut by an English studio.

That's a very great point.
Over the years, I realized that the dialog should most times be pushing the story forward. If it just goes off on an tangent that doesn't lead to anything with no kind of pay off, then that dialog should be cut from the movie.

They might be lowering that in the future. Sales have been down in recent years.
