Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist return for the eagerly anticipated sequel

UK publisher MacLehose Press has finally revealed the cover art and title for the fourth novel from the mind of Stieg Larsson: The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

The phenomenal success of the Millennium trilogy sparked an international intrigue with the canon of Scandinavian crime fiction quality. This quickly evolved into the Nordic Noir sensation that continues to dominate cinema and television, with cult audiences following the original series and a collection of inspired English-language remakes.

Even more captivating is how the popular trend catapulted author Stieg Larsson into a posthumous fame, with the 2005 publication of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo a year after his tragic death. Rumours of an incomplete fourth novel to the Millennium series hidden on the Larsson’s laptop have been in circulation for some time, with Larsson’s partner Eva Gabrielsson in contention for fulfilling his life’s work. However, Gabrielsson’s animosity towards a new book written in Larsson’s memory was reportedly overruled by the family’s estate to green-light the project.

The late Larsson intended to write a further seven novels to make up the ten-part Millennium franchise. Now, Swedish writer David Lagercrantz, a graduate from Gothenburg Journalism School and author of the dramatized account of Alan Turing’s life The Fall of the Man from Wilmslow, has completed the dormant journey of one of Sweden’s infamous literary heroines.
