Default Scariest scenes in films

A thread for talking about scenes in movies that almost made you sh!t your pants. A scene does not necessarily have to be from a horror film to qualify.

I mentioned this in another thread. It's from a movie I saw when I was a kid back in 1974 called "It's Alive". When this "baby" cried or whatever it was doing, it scared the living crap out of me. Of course, by today's standards, it seems hokey. But back in the day, it was scary as hell.

THIS!!!!! Creeps me the hell out. The first half of this movie is pure genius. Too bad it fell apart in the third act.

Just to throw some non-horror moments out there...
  • The scene in The Wages of Fear where the trucks have to maneuver onto a rotten wooden platform in order to continue along a road.
  • The scene in Sorcerer where the trucks have to cross a rotten wooden bridge over a river.

Besides the Insidious scene, which was already mentioned, I would probably have to go with the last five to ten minutes of The Blair Witch Project.

When they go into the little abandoned cottage...

I watched this the first time you posted this, but I just went back and watched it again. Is that the boy standing next to the ironing board when she's walking through the laundry room? If so, I missed that the first time.

I'm not big on "scary movies", but it makes me want to watch this movie after seeing this video.

Yes.

I know not many will agree, but this from Trainspotting has always unsettled me.

"Poltergeist" was definitely scary as a kid. I haven't seen it in ages, and doubt I would be scared by it now. But yeah it was definitely fun in that, "I loved to be scared" way as a kid.

The Descent:

The scene where
[Show spoiler]the group finally admits they're lost, they turn on the camera and we see one the crawlers behind them.
Creepy stuff.
