WB I have to admit has me nervous somewhat because some labels issue deluxe packages that sometimes never have the artists input or involvement at all. |

Ok I was wrong on my earlier post regarding the size of this box set it is bigger than the immersion sets, ESP since it contains LPs.
They also put 2 HD 24 bit and 320 Kbps download codes in my box set. I wonder if they are worth anything? I never use the codes I could trade them thru PayPal? Pic of the sets yeah I try to keep the plastic on the sets and not get finger prints on them by using gloves lol image.jpg |

Received my set today. The BD-A sounds fantastic. Unfortunately they only included a small CD size cover for the BD. Does anyone know where I can get a mock BD cover for this so I can put the BD-A in a BD case to go along with all my other HFPA discs?

I was really on the fence about this one. I was initially interested only in the 5.1 mixes, but I recently picked up a new turntable. That made getting this release a given. It's a blast having all the vinyl offerings — even though I'll probably never play them because I'm loving the hi-res multi-channel Blu-ray audio (something vinyl can't replicate).
This isn't PF's best album (IMHO), but I think this release sounds just as good as previous SACD 5.1 releases. It's just going to take some time for my wallet to recover... |

Gilmour's wife just tweeted that an album of material from 1994 will come out in October. The Endless River is described by her as "Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful". I'd normally wait until such an announcement is made more official, but considering the source I figured I'd post it anyway.

As it turns out. I'd rather it be a separate release frankly. Much cheaper than having to get the box for it.

The Dynamic Range readings for the BDA look good. Should be the same for the DVD too:

Jeffrey Kauffman's review is spot on. Concerning the 5.1 mixes, Kauffman stated that David Gilmore's vocals were "within" the mix.
I would take it one step further and say the vocals were buried in the mix. I was very disappointed in this since I love the Dark Side of the Moon 5.1 mixes so much. I really hope future surround mixes don't follow the Division Bell example. |

Diff'rent strokes for sure, most of the feedback I've read from the surround-addicts at the QQ forums are thrilled with this 5.1 mix and hope that AJ will get to do more 5.1 and not just Guthrie.
Guthrie learned a lot between DSOTM and WYWH, it's amazing how much better Parson's 4.0 mix of DSOTM is than Guthrie's 5.1 mix. |

Great job! Made me think about the possibilities for the other PF Immersion blu-rays I have in cardboard protectors. Have you made blu-ray covers for DSOTM and WYWH? They would make an excellent set if done like your Division Bell cover.

It's been said this is a great mix, but the vocals are buried somewhat. Checking my blu-ray today, I noticed most of the lead vocals mixed with the music on the L/R fronts. Putting my ear ON the centre channel, I get nothing but an extremely faint echo, virtually no sound. I change songs, check my settings and some other discs, not my equipment. It's almost like it's a quad mix, or 4.1 if you will. Maybe explains the buried vocals, most of my 5.1 stuff (blu-ray and SACD) has the lead vocals front and centre...at the centre channel.
Can anyone confirm this with their 5.1 blu-ray or DVD copy? |
